Fay seems like a wonderful school, but it is very expensive. They claim to help with financial aid that was not our experience. Unless you can afford more than $27k per year don't bother applying, you will just waste your application fee and time. It was insulting to be told that they had run out of financial aid and could not offer anything at all, after they had insinuated that aid was available. They would have done better to just deny enrollment and let me think that a better candidate and taken the spot. Do they really have an economically diverse population at Fay? If I had somehow been able to come up with the money, I suspect that my child would have been the only child of normal means there. It seemed like an exciting option, but I don't really think it is a good value for the money. If you can afford it, the school does appear to be top notch.
We are thrilled with our decision to send our daughter here. We were unsure if it would be worth the expense but haven't had a single day where we haven't felt it was the best decision we ever made for her. We wanted an environment where she felt a strong connection with her teachers and was engaged in learning and surrounded by kind, respectful other children and it has completely met our expectations.
My son has gained confidence and amazing reading skills while attending first grade at Fay. I find the teaching exceptional and have been pleased with the fact that every day I pick my son up he says he has had a "great" day and is excited to share lots of information about what he has done.
A nightmare. Scott LeBrun was dean of students and was most unreasonable. My son is now at a great boarding school in New Hampshire and could not be doing better. Fay's only solution was to have him tested by a psychologist at great expense to me and she did nothing. Fay is in need of physiologic testing. They placed my son in a room with a manic/depressed student and didn't warn us. Is that right?
All three of our children attend Fay, and we have been thoroughly pleased with all aspects of the school community. It is a caring, child-focused environment. The new primary building and program are superb. The education at each level has been thorough and thoughtful. Our children love every aspect of the school.
Our daughter is in the 7th grade at Fay, her second year with this exceptional boarding school. We find the teachers, and administrators to be responsive and caring. The growth and maturity that we see our daughter experiencing within this nurturing community is clearly meeting with our expectation. The exposure to peers that come from all walks of life and cultures, is going a long way toward preparing her for the global village within which she is expected to play a leading role. As a parent I attended the finals of the annual speech competition and was amazed at the passionate, articulate delivery of convictions that could only be voiced by students who were nurtured to explore their ideas and be fearless in their exploration of a subject. I left convinced that my Princess was exactly where she needed to be at this phase of her life. Needless to say, her speech was quite telling. Come taste and see, there is only so much room.
We have two children at the school. One is in the Lower School (3rd-5th grades) and one in the Upper School (6th-9th grades). The things we are most please about are... 1) the "effort grades" that are generated every two weeks by the faculty. This gives ongoing visibility into whether our children are staying engaged and are working hard, which is a prerequisite given the school's challenging program. 2) the attention the children get through the advisory system and Wellness program. These give attention and focus to our children's overall wellness, conduct and the leadership skills that are critical to lifelong success- things we felt were getting lost in the public schools. 3) the international influence in the Upper School where there are boarding students from all over the world. All in all, we are extremely happy with the way our children have been challenged and the way the school fosters their success (and confidence).
We are very displeased with the quality academics at Fay. School is only interested in your money, but not your children We cannot recommend it.
School is only interested in your money. My son had a trip to mexico for three thousand dollars. The trip lasted for one week and from my sons words the trip was nothing but riding in the bus. There was one more trip to New York, that cost one thousand dollars and lasted for 4 days. For that money i think that they could provide airplane from Boston to New York but not a bus drive.
Our two children graduated from Fay School. They both went on to exceptionally rigorous secondary schools. Our eldest is attending and exceeding expectations at a top college in Boston and our youngest is flourishing at her new school. Fay provided them both with an exemplary education along with leadership skills, organizational skills, sportsmanship, and strong self esteem.....need I say more?
