Van Sickle Middle School

i was a student at vansickle middle school i loved all the teachers at that school there all so great i miss the schoo l alot i go to John F kennedy school.I MISS VANSICKLE!

I transferred my daughter from renaissance school to Van Sickle Middle School she was failing at Renaissance school due to distractions in the class room and teachers not doing their jobs or caring and controlling the classroom kids. I switched here to VSMS and she is currently in honors getting good grades all i can say is Van Sickle middle Schhol is one of the bestr in the District. Barbara

I was a student at Van Sickle Middle School. I was only here for one year but i loved it there. The Teachers are like a 8 out 10. The Band is great! Ms. Simpson-Plouffe is a good band teacher. The Students are Awesome but some aren't. I got to give prompts to this school because i had moved to Springfield from Texas and i felt so welcomed here. I actually wish i could be at this school then be here back in Texas. - Sarah Chanvong

The principal, asst. principals, counselors, and teachers all care about the students, plus the school is an International Baccalaureate Middle Years school, so they are tops academically.

I am a teacher at VSMS. I think we have a wonderful school that meets the needs of all learners. I truly enjoy all of my students and try very hard to make sure my students learn something new each day. The school has a wonderful discipline policy and has great administration. This is one of the best middle schools around! Awesome technology too!

My daughter is currently a 8th grade student at Van Sickle. She has attended school there since she entered in the 6th grade. I can not say enough about how proud I am to say my child attends VSMS. She has excelled in all areas of academic. The head principal holds all her students to the highest standards, and accepts nothing less from both her students and staff.

Van Sickle Middle School is a great school. They have a band. You can play almost any instrument except for the piano. The only thing that is kind of bad about the school is that the kids misbehave. I am in sixth grade and i go to that school and overall I think it is a good school.

I am an 8th grade student at Van Sickle Middle School.And I have to object to what a few people have said:1)There is no 'best' group in the school,2)The kids in the seperate houses are there for a reason;some of the kids are a little,shall I say,'slower' than others academically,so the kids are placed in a house where the teachers think the kids could learn and do their best,3)Van Sickle has not given up on it's students or its grade point average,I think we are doing fine on the MCAS scores.

I think school is a great learning program that is good for all kids. It also has a great learning for kids of english for a second launguage.

I have two students going here in 6th and 8th grades. Their grades are great and their overall conduct is great. But in the past three years since Van Sickle has reopened the adminstration started out great and has gone down hill. Its like they have given up.

Some students in what is called the 'Best' group in the school are so bad that the classes (and the teaching) come to a halt. Administrators threaten 'Lockdown' on entire classes. Administrators are (evidently) helpless to correct or control this situation. I must in all fairness add that in spite of all this my student managed very good grades. I can't help but wonder what could have been accomplished in a better environment. Today's students will be making gobal policies tomorrow with what they learn in our schools, the good and the bad.
