My child has been at the West School for 5 years know and every year she has had a phenomenal teacher. The teachers are the best. When I first saw the MCAS results I was leary about this public school and even considered a private school for kindergarten, but they had no openings. I do not regret her education at this school and have not reconsidered the private sector schools since. Teachers give the child expectations and the parents must also be involved to see that the child meets these expectations

in my opinion students are not pushed hard enough in school today - i have found that teachers make excuses for laziness. my son is in West school and is allowed to get away with not completing all the work (class and homework) that is assigned to the class as a whole because he's on an iep - which is a joke. he has the potential to do better I have seen it - the iep is a crutch that he takes advantage of. Yes - parents are part of the problem too but if the teachers were more strict with what they expect from the students, and the parents it would make a big difference.

I can only think that the people that wrote the negative reviews are not involved in school at all. If they were they would see what a wonderful school the West is. The students are the most important thing to these teachers and the teachers give of their own time to provide the best education. It's a shame parents just drop their kids off and don't get involved. They are missing so much.

I have to tell you that my child has been to 2 different schools in Stoughton and I am ashamed to even say that my child goes to the West School. Seems to me that the teachers do not care and do not have enough time for the kids. I went to the West school and it has defenitely changed since I have been there. Dawe was way more challenging and kept my child busy.

I was surprised to see how poor the West School MCAS results are. I am happy to hear that there will be a new principal next year.

Being a townie for most of my life, I attended the West School, have had nephews attend and now I'm proud to say that my children will also be attending. I have also worked at the West and knowing first hand that my child will get the best from a great school with great teachers!
