Parents and teachers agree that the environment at Stanley is extremely positive overall and students are challenged and achieve at high levels. They also agree that an area to strengthen is cafeteria noise and, to a small degree lunchroom behavior. The cafeteria is also the gym so it's naturally quite loud. One of the focus areas for me as the new principal will be to be in the cafeteria as frequently as possible to support teachers in maintaining an orderly and positive lunch environment for children and teachers. I am also committed to working with teachers and students in classrooms and in monthly whole school assemblies to build consensus around what a calm, peaceful cafeteria looks, sounds and feels like. I am confident that we can improve the lunch experience for everyone even though truthfully no one is saying that it is so terrible, it just could be a little better.

My grandaughter currently attends this school. It has challenging academic programs. It has high parental involvement which definitely contributes to the success of their MCAS scores. Unfortunately, I did hear on one occasion students being screamed at in the cafeteria by a teacher. It does not set a good example when a teacher loses control in front of young children. Overall, it has a great principal and hardworking teachers.

  • Stanley School has a new Principal named Tom Daniels who has been meeting with groups of parents, teachers and administrators as part of his entry plan. It has become clear through these meetings that Stanley has excellent teachers, committed parents, a warm, caring environment and high student achievement. Essentially parents and teachers want to maintain the excellent atmosphere and achievement and parents are interested in challenging children to an even greater degree
