The families and teachers in Webster are being under-served by this school's administration and inappropriate use of the meager funds in the coffers. Teacher morale is in the toilet due to a complete lack of support, and many parents complain of dishonest, inconsistent communication with the principal and assistant principal. Even students have begun to complain with the level of apathy and poor behavior that is tolerated. Unfortunately, the superintendent allows a small cadre of disruptive students and demanding parents to run the school, and this has resulted in mass frustration for the teachers and students who still care about doing well. There are recent bright spots--the academic coaches have done wonders in the last few years--but the powers that be need to get their ducks in a row before they lose what good faculty and attentive parents are still left in the system.

My daughter has attended this school for 6 years. She is currently a senior. While she has done very well she has not been challenged by the curriculum. Homework is almost non-existent because the administration feels that students lack the parental support to make it successful. This drastically shortchanges the top students. As with any public school you will have a very diverse population but I believe most of the kids would be up to the challenge and would learn more if more was expected for them. The guidance department really focuses on those kids who have problems and was practically useless in our college search. The administration turns a blind eye to discipline issues so the kids really run the school. The thought seems to be "if I don't see it then it doesn't exist and I won't have to report on it." Bartlett is doing a real disservice to the children in town. It is unfortunate as most of the families have no real alternative.

I have two children who went to BHS. Both of my children received an excellent education in English, math and science. The history department was below average for all four years. The Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Dobro was very helpful with the college application process! Thank you BHS!

Bartlett is great. I proudly say there were few behavioral problems, and more success in tougher courses than city schools. The extracurriculars are great (band and AFJROTC!!!). Kids at Bartlett don't get beat up, robbed, or anything like that, it's a really safe place. I worried more about what the smart kids thought of me (they were kind of snobby) than about getting hurt or being 'cool'. The only thing I didn't like was that more importance was placed on the sports program than the music program. Once, the band could not go to a competition because we were obligated to play at a football game, as if the football team owned the band and was more important. No program should be obligated to give up their own activities to serve another program. No school is perfect though, and BHS is a great school to be educated in.

I know in the past Bartlett has not had a great reputation. But things have changed, starting with the administration. The teachers are now held to a higher standard and so are the students. The teachers always make themselves available when a student needs help. I have a special needs child and she received all of the appropriate support. The teachers were always willing to talk with me and update me on her status in school. I also have a son who is involved in sports. Unlike most of the surrounding school districts, Bartlett parents have opted to start arrange for fund raisers instead of charging students to participate in athletic and academic clubs. This allows all of the students to enjoy the programs.I personally think any school is only as good as what you and your child put into it. A child can succeed or fail.It all starts at home.

I am a former BHS grad(04) and I loved attending BHS, they really helped me out. I got into a great mass school, did very well on my sat's and mcas. I studied art thoroughly in high school, the program is very intense and well rounded. a great stepping stone to any art college. the guidance department is amazing and caring and extremely helpful. the student body and government are well rounded and upbeat. overall an excellent public school.I also attending another public school for a short period through the school choice program, but chose to return to BHS.
