I have long since graduated and continue to think of my time at Dana as the best 4 years of my life. It was a time that I felt supported and challenged. I made life long friends with peers and teachers.
If you like being stripped of the freedom to have your own opinions, Dana Hall is the school for you. What may on the outside seem like a place that encourages the acceptance of others, Dana girls quickly find out that they are being brainwashed by the school administration. Disagree with homosexuality? Well, Dana doesn't support that opinion. In fact, the students' acceptance of the gay&lesbians is so important to the school that in the end the academics suffer... or perhaps that's just because they weren't any good in the first place. Dana doesn't WANT to help you, and they probably won't take any action unless they absolutely have to. But they have no problem wasting countless hours of your time talking about the problem, and eventually doing nothing to resolve it. The teachers are stuck up and bitter. They WILL try to get you in trouble.
Dana Hall prepared me in every aspect for like beyond high school. I entered shy and quiet, and Dana gave me the opportunity to thrive and succeed...to discover interests and apply myself. The traditions are amazing. They are the foundation of the school. This is an amazing school and I recommend it to anyone who wants to see their daughter become a driven, bright, strong young woman!
I go to Dana and I've been (here) since 6th grade and I love it! The middle school was not the greatest but as soon as you get into the upper school its awesome! I don't have a single teacher or class that I am bored in or dislike. The courses are appropriately challenging and everything is interesting. All of the girls are incredibly nice and it is a very diverse community- there's a friend for everyone. I won't leave until I have to graduate!!
I go to Dana and love it! Its a blast! The teachers are supportive, the traditions are great, you make many friends and most of all, its FUN. I wake up and have a positive attitude going to school! BEST SCHOOL EVER!
I love Dana Hall! It is absolutely one, if not the, best school out there. It encourages students to take advantage of opportunities. Although it may have a reputation of being a school in which 'mean girls' go, it is honestly only because of stereotypes. People assume that since it s an all girls school, girls will be meaner, sluttier, and apparently lesbian. But honestly the all girls aspect of it is a plus, girls are able to focus on their schoolwork and they aren't afraid to take a chance in class. Also the idea of girls being meaner at Dana Hall is immediately abolished the second you step on campus. Everyone there treats each other like family. I am proud to be a student of Dana Hall.
A school for the 21st century, with gifted teachers and forward-thinking leadership. Collaboration and productivity are the name of the game here, and to say that students are prepared for college and beyond is an understatement. Anyone who wants a first rate education should look into it, but be prepared to live up to high standards and clear discipline and academic honesty policies.
great potential, sadly wasted by lack of vision/wisdon of trustees and administration
I love dana hall. I have been going here since ninth grade this is my third year and I still love it. Dana Hall is great in so many different ways from the students and the techers to the working staff and the admissions staff. Dana Hall is the school for your daughter if you would like her to strive academically and socially.
Good News: wonderful, supportive student body rarely found at private schools and a fantastic campus. Bad News: high faculty and student turnover, recent cutbacks in programs, and constant parent/faculty/administration feuds.
