This is our son's second year at Tremont. From the start, it has been the perfect fit for him, as well as for us as parents. With a small student body and amazingly dedicated staff, the school is able to provide a vastly different experience from the large public school he attended previously. This is not just a result of size, but is also a deliberate choice about the mission and style of the school. The academics are highly individualized, allowing students to achieve great personal growth as well as to learn to work collaboratively in groups. The daily contract and overall project-based curriculum allow students to feel as if they have some ownership over their own education. The enthusiasm for learning that this engenders is remarkable. At the same time, the school recognizes that social/emotional growth goes hand in hand with academic growth, and carefully incorporates this into the curriculum. The result is a kind, caring, community of learners that works flexibly to meet the needs of all students. Finally, it is exciting to be part of a parent community that is warm, welcoming, and highly dedicated both to education overall as well as to the development of the school.

I would like to post another 5 star review for Tremont school. My daughter has been a student since 2011. At 14, she still is excited to get there everyday. The teachers are wonderful. They have a great way of finding the talents and strengths of each student and work thru any areas of weakness. Hands on learning can make almost any subject fun! The emphasis on social and emotional learning is seen in every classroom, every day. Our child has great friends, great teachers and loves her school. We are so pleased with the education she is receiving. Thanks, Tremont School!

Tremont offers my daughter a small, collegial environment, with consistent peer and adult relationships in appropriate groupings throughout the day. Her progress academically and socially has been unprecedented. The curriculum is interesting to her and she is successful at school for the first time in her academic career. She feels good about her learning. Even more exciting is that for the first time in her life my daughter has consistent and meaningful friendships with peers who share her interests and like her for who she is. The school infuses social emotional curricula throughout the day and has enabled her to feel good about herself and to have confidence in her ability to make and keep friends. This school has been life changing for her and I can't say enough good things about it.

Tremont is an incredible school that s unlike any other we have come across. Our 2 boys (Grades 5 &7) love the project-based curriculum, allowing them to dive deep into subjects and understand the real-world relevance of what they are learning. With very small class sizes and low student/teacher ratio, Tremont is able to provide individualized instruction that has allowed both of our boys to thrive academically. Also, Tremont puts a strong emphasis on social and emotional skills, which are valued as highly as academics. I m not sure you ll find a more talented or dedicated faculty anywhere. These teachers are so special in their ability to embrace the whole child, to connect with many different kinds of learners, and to truly listen and care about each student s perspective. Tremont is a warm, accepting, and welcoming community where our boys have made wonderful friends and feel safe and supported. Our boys participate most days in Tremont s popular after-school program, where they have taken outdoor survival, theater, robotics, ski club, Aikido, rock band, newspaper, yoga, role playing and more! Can t say enough about Tremont and how lucky we feel to have found it for our family!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.

Breaking down the GreatSchools Rating

Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.
