Wawecus Road School has done an outstanding job this year. Their writing program has made a tremendous impact.
Wawecus Rd. is a nice small neigborhood school with many extra-curriculum activities offered throughout the year. Most of the teachers are experienced and of pre-retirement-age since teaching here is not as challenging as in the majority of other Worcester schools (kids behave and parents cooperate). In terms of academics, they could definitely do better with less distractions like various food sales during the day.
As a parent of a 2nd grader at Wawecus, I think the scholl has potential. However, they are not great at communicating with the parents and there is a lack of homework for the students. My child started in first grade and his homework at Wawecus was a third what he had at his previous school. I suggest getting very involved with the PTA so you can make an impact.
Wawecus Road School is superb. The teaching is great and with the small number of students, each student is focused on sustancially. I would reccomend that you send your child to Wawecus if you live in or around the Burncoat area.
