Great school. My daughter has been at AKFCS just 2 months. I love it compared to the parochial school she attended where focus was more on fundraising throughout the year. She is in grade K. Upon joining the school I realised she was behind in many K skills such as telling time, counting money, writing simple sentences. She now has to do a book report every month, has music and mythology. My experience in the short time is just great.
AKFCS is the best school in worcester. My children have received an excellent education. The teaching staff is wonderful. I recommend it to everyone I meet.
excellent school ,great academics, excellent education greatly interested thank you
abby kelly is a great school it is very challenging but a great school
I think that the overall staff at AKFCS are very kind and caring considerate people. You can tell that the staff really love what they do! How many schools in Worcester or my home town of Auburn, MA greet the children at arrival time (getting off the buses)? None that I know of. I love this school!
I've been at this school for nine years and it is excellent. I was taught how to read along with my peers in Kindergarten. They teach one-on-one if needed and do not hold the entire class back if a student has trouble. Also, as a liberal arts school, it has an excellent music department. This year, the second class to graduate did and all the students were accepted to a college and many we given scholarships. Abby Kelley is an absolutely wonderful school and I have been happy there for nine years. Many of my friends have been there the same length and they have enjoyed it too. We all are happy to get out of school but everyone admits that after a week they all want to be back in school with friends and teachers to learn.
My child transfered into a regular public school and was far behind those students. At AKF she was in the highest ability group but in the public school struggled in both writing and math. I do not think AKF lives up to its promises.
If the Abby Kelley Foster Public Charter School did not exist my husband and I would have had to have moved out of Worcester. The environment promotes excellence and learning. the teachers are committed to providing the best education and if they are not they can be fired. The children have a full music program with band and chorus opportunities for children as young as the third grade. They have a full art program and have many opportunities for children to play competitive team sports. The school has a character education curriculum which makes a huge difference in the behavior of the students.
If your child has special needs this is not the school for your child.
I have had my children at Abby Kelley since the day it opened. Great school! My children are involved in our home town sports program, and you can always tell the Abby Kelley students. They are taught to respect themselves and others. They are taught proper behavior in every situation. The children are abilty grouped which provides an ideal education for every student in the classroom. Most groups have between 15 and 20 children.
Abby Kelley Foster offers students a classical liberal arts public education. The character education program emphasizes a commitment to family and community.
This school presents as a classic education however teachers receive limited support and have 25-26 children in classrooms. The behavior modification 'color system' works well in K-3 but not after.
the teachers at this school are awesome, but the school counselors have no clue what they're doing.
