Through the eyes of our child, I have seen her desire to reach out to and greet folks that share the same "space," with a grinning HELLO! When she sees another person, especially a child weeping or in pain, she tries to go over, find out what is wrong, and help bring back a smile. Growing flowers and vegetables from seeds or small plantlings stirs her sense of amazement. Her never-ending curiosity about all she sees, hears, tastes, smells and touches -- her surprise at so much that "grown-ups" dismiss as unworthy of attention, renews my sense of possibility.
