Thank God for parents that don't work full time. And thank the families that manage to make that arrangement work. Because they're what make our public school work -- all that volunteer time and work and energy make my school better. Our family needs for both of us to work full time, so in-school volunteering is a rare, if pleasant and rewarding, thing. I need those volunteers that can do it often, and so do my kids. So I thank them. I work at a major firm in Silicon Valley. My wife teaches at a top-quality public high school locally.
