Scarlett Middle School has always been the worst of Ann Arbor's middle schools. It's ten-times worse than the other three combined and Dr. Edmondson was extremely over-rated. Teachers are the kind of hands-off "do-your-own-work" types who don't inform pupils or parents about tests or assignments, and let classroom bullies keep good kids down. It's just disgusting that teachers and administrators can have so little accountability.
This school has been horrible since the last principal (Dr. Edmunson) left. The new principal does not do anything and all the things that Scarlett was known for being bad for are coming back, slowly but surely. Over the last year I have noticed the school change from being one of the best middle schools in Ann Arbor to well on the way to its worst. Get it together Scarlett administration!
All the bad press that Scarlett got years ago is just a memory. It's a great place for young people prepare for high school. The teaching staff is one that cares about achievement of each student.It's a no nonsense school but the students have can have fun within the learning environment. Earning a place in the Scarlett Academic Society is a goal that has raised a lot of kids from good/fair students to outstanding.
my son goes to this school and it is 1000& good it has everything you can ever want you can even check the grades and asighments online.. all i know is my child is sucsessful because of this school
Scarlett Middle School is THE standard that all other AAPS should be measured by. The leadership of Dr. Edmondson has turned this school around and it is now one of high expectations not just academically, but socially, morally. The staff are energized and the parents are engaged and supportive. Wonderful school.
Scarlett is the best school. Under Dr.Edmonsons leadership the school has really changed. Their sports teams are amazing. The 8th grade girls basketball team in the 2008-2009 season were City Champions. Scarlett is EXCELLENT!
Scarlett provides an atmosphere that is coupled with caring staff and high expectations. The leadership is strong and committed to success. Student population is diverse offering a wonderful opportunity for students to learn and interact with students of many ethnic groups and backgrounds. Laptops are supplied. Students learn and have responsibilities that can easily be applied to real world scenarios. Principals and other staff are engaging with students and parents. Poor behavior is not tolerated. The quality of the school has room to improve, but efforts to accomplish this is evident in many ways. The best thing is that the students enjoy being educated in this environment, which proves that children perform best under a caring roof that provides clear expectations with consequences and rewards.
