Being a past student of this school i believe that it treated me on the below average level. They do not believe in the first ammendment, given the fact that i put of posters stating not to buy major label c.D.'S, because of the fact that that supports lawsuits against families and children, then they go and tell me to take them down. Then i try to distribute leaflets, nope, can't have that either. You guys know who i am and i can tell you right now, the high school is a whole lot better then there. The acctually believe in the first amendment.

I was worried about my kids going to middle school but I have been thrilled with the interaction between the teachers/administration and students. Mr. Hurley, the principal, has always made me welcome and seems to know each student by name. The office staff always greets me with a smile. I have been lucky enough to be involved in a few projects at GAMS and am glad to see, first hand, how much my son loves it there.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
