Bellaire Middle/High School

I think reading what former students and their parents wrote, pretty much says it all. If we have adults stumbling out into the world who do not know the difference between there/their/ and they're...(and countless other mistakes) what more really needs to be said?

My two daughters graduated from Bellaire and both went on to higher education. I could not have asked for them to be happier.

Overall I liked Bellaire Elementary. My daughter went there for Kindergarten. Teachers are very helpful and would go an extra mile to help your kids to enjoy school. My daughter was in a gifted and talented school when she was in Saginaw. I then moved up north.

I think that in the community of resorts and excellent tax base, Bellaire schools should have much more to offer the teachers than they do. The school is very bad shape and needs upgrading to keep up with just basic standards. My daughters had an excellent start in the gradeschool in Bellaire. The study skills and habits they learned have given them the drive to become the overacheivers they are here in Vegas. The town should focus on the schools with more drive than in the past. Maybe implementing more college/job related classes for all levels of learning. Good luck! Life is more than just sports!

I am a recent graduate of the Bellaire Public School system. BHS has a very good teaching staff, they are very concerned that their students succeed and give students plenty of support. I will agree with most of the other reviews, BHS puts a lot of focus on sports. Although I don t think that one can say that this emphasis on sports detracts from the schools academic programs. How can one say that when BHS has on average been 20% higher then the state average HST test score the last three years and shown a 10% increase in all HST test scores every year for the last three years. To end this I would like to thanks Bellaire Public Schools for the great education that I received. I owe much of my post high school success to the teachers and administration of Bellaire Public Schools. Go Eagles!

I am a student a Bellaire.I choose to attend the TBA center because Bellaire all the care about is trying to make the sports even better.The teachers don't care about their student or even if they are learning anything.Also all they care about is trying to get a new school built and I admit that we need a new one but why if yuor not going to care what you teach and what your students get out of your class.so i dont think Bellaire should be ranked very high like some of the other people do.The school also only cares abot people that are perfect in sports or what your last name is in this school.the quality of the academics is very poor.the level of parent involvement is all in the sports department.

I love Bellaire. I have lots of friends in surrounding schools and they wish that they had the school spirt we do. You always know when there is a big game, locker decs, wall decs, signs, music, decorated halls, its a great feeling. No matter how great this feeling is, it shouldnt take away from our academics.I just got an assignment for a class about things bellaire has done, 90% is sports.The school itself is not good. It was built in the 60's. Most of our parents hadn't even graduated then. Shanty is in the perdicament it is in because it needs to be updated, hint our school was built the same decade. Shouldnt that be a hint. Even though we have excellent test scores, there is always room for improvement.

I was a Bellaire Graduate and I enjoyed the school very much. I wanted my kids to grow up here and have the same education I did. Well I just pulled my children from Bellaire district and put them in a school that actually cares about the students. Bellaire treats the kids in high school like they are 2 years old and they aren't allowed to have there own opinion. They care about one thing only SPORTS..... as for the new Principal....what a joke....find administration and leadership in the school that can help the kids ,not hinder them.. Seriously rethink the schools mission statement too because that's a joke as well....

Currently I attend Bellaire Public High School. Personally I do think that there are a few things that need to be fixed in our school, but that doesn't mean it is a horrible place to be. Everyone complains that we focus to much on sports then we do on academics. Not totally true. Yes...Sometimes we may get too carried away with sports but the support is great! I think it is awesome that our staff and students encourage the athletics to be what they wanna be. No one is holding you back from doing anything. If you feel that you aren't being pushed hard enough...maybe the teachers disagree. They put you at a certain level and work from that, ask to be pushed harder if you feel that you need to be. I do believe there are some problems with our school but it is still a great place!

My child graduated from BHS in 2004. From her perspective, she would say that her experience was predominantly positive. There were several teachers, Mrs. Bethke (HS), Mrs. Renaud (ELEM), and Mrs. Ross (HS) who were exceptional teachers and whose contributions were/are a great asset to Bellaire schools. Unfortunately, Mrs. Renaud and Mrs. Bethke are now retired. I found most of the teachers to be helpful, available, and caring. In general, I would say most of the students like the teachers at the high school level. My perspective of Bellaire schools is somewhat different from my daughter's. I do not see academic excellence as a priority in this district. The college prep coursework is mediocre at best. There are minimal options for either the gifted or special-needs child. I was disappointed by the english dept.'s lack of concern for proper spelling/grammar. When I raised this issue, I was told spelling isn't important.
