My daughter started going there last year in 7th grade. She has recieved an immense amount of help with math that she never recieved at the previous school. The teachers truly work together to find the best fit for your child. I have had no problem whatsoever with communication with teachers, principal or the extra help math teacher.

Lots of families have left the school over the years, even more in recent years, because the principals and many of my colleagues lack the basic skills and professionalism that it mandatory it the surrounding schools. Teachers with their own children in the school is as overwhelming as the favoritism shown to them and the children of the moms that hang out at the school. Bullying is a huge problem. It starts from the top and trickles down to the kids. Lack of curriculum standard in competitive schools and teach to the average -totally miss the kids at the top and bottom intelligence. Lots of window dressing, but not much inside. If I could leave I would, but I am stuck now with education reform in public schools.

For fifteen years, I have been blessed to teach at Assumption School in Belmont. I often share with my students how lucky I feel to teach at a school where students are so eager to learn. These are students who are excited to participate in class discussions, volunteer work, academic enrichment programs, as well as music and sports programs. Whether it is daily homework assignments, hosting a Family Math Night, or preparing for a placement test, these students are willing to work from the first day of school to the very last. One needs to look no further than a community of caring parents to understand why the students are so rewarding to work with. I cannot say enough about the support I have received from parents over the course of my tenure at Assumption. They have been generous beyond measure, both professionally and personally. I am grateful to my students and their parents for all they have taught me over the last fifteen years.

This is a hidden gem! A caring, challenging, outstanding school. We have met so many great families and friends here. Our kids love it. They are FREE to practice and grow in their faith. Academically, they are well prepared to excel in high school and college. Several have gone on to lead their classes at more "competitive" schools both public and private, big and small. I haven't agreed with everything that I've seen, but this school community does its best with what it has and the results are awesome. I respect the families that make not only the decision to look for the best place for their kids' education, but also don't do it at the expense of their neighbors! This school is trying to commit to never turning a family away for financial reasons. Not an elitist bone in their body and no entitlement mindset. Get to know Assumption, you will be amazed.

Our family is relatively new to this school, having transferred from another local Catholic School. We have been in the Catholic school system for over 17 years, and this school is truly one of the best. The staff is highly qualified and professional, and the parents and students made us feel at home from the first day we were there. Academics are extremely high, and the students have absolutely no problem passing the high school entrance exam, and a good portion of them qualify for higher level classes. Mr. Micele has done an excellent job in the past few years, and his knowlege of curriculum from his years spent in the Rockford schools really shows. I encourage anyone interested in this school simply to visit and chat with the principal. You won't regret it!

"Mom and dad, I feel I am really learning now!". This is the impression my daughter has of this school We transferred from the public schools to this school. The school is a community of families. Students and parents get to really know each other. They offer programs you usually only see in larger schools. Students are looked up to if they are smart rather than as a nerd. Both the teachers and fellow students help each other. With this building including K-8th grade, the older students get to mentor the younger students bringing the school closer together.

We can't say enough about the staff at this school. For the students that excel and the students who struggle, the staff is there to help. Please come see our school for yourself. We are a nice community providing a wonderful environment and education for the students. That is what our school is here for first and foremost!

I can't beleive all the negative comment s about Assumption. This school ROCKS! The ones complaining are more than likely the ones who want the schools to 'fix' somthing that should be fixed at home. The parent involvement is good - but that is up to the parents to volunteer - the school certainly doesn't turn away anyone willing to help out. The teachers have always been giving , compassionate and very informative whenever I have any questions or concerns. As far as the 'Rockford Guy' coming in to clean up that in itself is crazy. Mr. Micele has done a very nice job - but so did his predessor. I find it interesting that Assumption students that go on to Rockford High School consistantly graduate in the top 10% of their class - something most be going well there!

The principal and parents act like the school is their social gathering daily and gossiping about others in the school is more of a priority then acting Christian and teaching. The education is subpar and really focuses on the kids that are average or below. There are kids that fail the entrance exam to the catholic high schools. How pathetic is this?

Assumption is a wonderful school which offers a stringent academic curriculum as well as a strong moral curriculum. The teachers are caring and more than able to prepare our students for high school and beyond. The poor ratings some parents have given this school is due to a personal issue which they have made public. Please visit Assumption and you will see what a great place it is!!
