I have never enjoyed school as much as I did during my days at DCD. The teachers were great, and so were the students. In the years since moving, my mom has often complained about how no school will ever be as good. As an accelerated program, each class challenges the students in a way that no other school I have ever come across has been able to. Learning is a fun and continuous process in Country Day. If I had to rate it, I'd give it 10/10. Go Yellow Jackets!
I go here and I LOVE IT! Everyone is nice including the teachers. I go to the middle school and it has given me opportunities that i would have never gotten at a public school.
Well: The facilities/ building are amazing (they spend a good portion of our tutions upgrading the facility. If you want to meet some smart people come here. Basically they care a lot about the public image so they will "recruit" (buy) students to come here. This really heps if you want good company (smart people). Now which college this will take you to depends on how hard you work, It won't guarantee anything. If you work really hard though chances are you will go somewhere great. Teachers are really nice and good. If you're looking for a great GPA or advanced classes don't come here. It is much harder to get a 4.0 here than in a public school. In 7th grade I was placed in Geometry (9th grade math) even though I could go to Pre-Calculus (11th grade math) if I went to a public. Overall, it is a pretty great school but depends on how much you are willing to spend. Note: Somebody who works really hard can go to Harvard no matter what school they will go to.
The school's academic program is wonderful, yet its transportation system is horrific. A door-to-door service you purchase does not guarantee your child will be on the bus until you beat the "2-minute-only wait" rule. As a parent and a consumer, all I saw is grade A bus service charge, grade D excuses, and grade E communication and actual service. Aside from the bus services, the school is a phenomenal.
i think that DCDS could be a good school if they cared more about the students more so then what the media has to say about the school, also in sports they wouldn't care if the child was failing to try and keep them off they care about how good that one specific person is and have them on teams like basketball and football to be "a 1 man team" where that student scores the most points in the whole game instead of the kids that deserve to be in the game and that have good grades i think they need to get it together before you pay for your child to attend this school
As a graduate of DCDS (3rd-12th grade) I have mixed feelings about the school. Like most school there are both incredible and abysmal teachers,& those in between. I think every student can find a teacher that they can connect with (at least in high school) I admit that they prepared me for college. I attended MSU school of education (the top in the country) and I found it very easy. I was never stressed about papers, tests/exams or presentations. I was surprised how many of my piers were so unprepared. Socially the school was awful. The girls were incredibly cruel (I am a female). Teachers picked the favorites at an early age and they were the stars the rest of our time there, giving them, along with students who had parents wave money around, a lot of leniency. It all depends on you & your child. However, outofthebox people don't fitin.
i thought it was only good for one thing.. English. The kids there are sometimes just..mean and not trustworthy, and it's too much pressure with loads of homework(including over holidays) and not even teaching that properly in the classes to even understand the homework fully enough. You only recieve critical and important notices online, and so if your computer breaks down, its a complete DISASTer and could ruin almost everything like your grades and classes for next year(not having the chance to get in i mean). Plus, it's reaallly costs a ton to get in; the testing itself is over $110!!!!
I believe that DCDS is the greatest Academic Institution in the entire Midwest. As a student that has been at DCDS for almost 13 years I have been able to experience the wealth of resources students have access to. Each teacher is definitely from the cream of the crop. Throughout my years at DCD I have developed personal relationships with all of my teachers. I believe that the experience one receives from going to school here is one of a kind. 100% of the students make it to college and most go to top 25 colleges. Greatest school there is.
I thought DCDS is a great school, has option for students to be stronger academically, but if you have a child who is like to explore and be creative , this is a wrong school, they don't care about your kids. If your kids do not follow the structure 100%, that means your gets is not a qualify student . the staff care about the job to be done, they care about the media and what it says in the newspaper or headlines news about the achievement of the DSCD, but what about the student and what is looking for, that never been looked at. so be carful before you loosing your money.
As a parent of a DCDS graduate, I definitely expected much more from this investment. Prior to entering DCDS, my student was promised that if there were any academic troubles, tutoring and special attention would be immediately implemented, and the small class sizes would provide strong support for academic achievement. This was not the case, and my child struggled throughout the years, with little or no intervention on the part of the school to help. The school provides no appreciable advantage compared to a public school. Do not expect any special consideration in terms of admission to higher-level universities as a result of DCDS--if anything, kids will have a much greater chance of a higher GPA at a public school, and therefore more opportunity for admission to a good college.
