Quarton is an outstanding school! The teachers are enthusiastic and involved. The student body, though not diverse, is caring, well mannered and is developing high education standards. The principal is on top of her job, keeps parents involved with frequent emails and knows most of her students by name! The MEAP (state tests) are some of the highest in the state. Lastly, the school has very active parents, with just under a 100% parent conference attendance rate.

What an amazing school! I've had three children at Quarton over the past nine years and I have to pinch myself to believe what a terrific environment the school provides. My wife and I were parochial school kids and suspicious of public schools to start, but the combination of young, energetic teachers and an outstanding principal have made us believers. Every type of child is nurtured here, from the gifted to the challenged. The school spirit and connection with the neighborhood and community are outstanding. Just a fantastic choice all around!

I agree with the last post. We moved our child to a private school. There a lot of 'mature' tenured and burned out teachers we viewed as not enthusiastic about learning which is key at the earliest grades. As BPS continues to cut budgeted resources this will get worse.

We moved our kids from this school... We felt academics were weak, little diversity, and many behavioral problems and special needs students brought standards down. It seemed to us that teachers were overwhelmed with overly full curriculums and special needs kids. Much time spent on a daily basis preparing for standardized testing led us to wonder about a 'teaching for the test' environment. This is a school where parents have too much say and children rarely feel the consequences of poor behavior. For the taxes residents pay, a poor product of a school.

Super Clicky school - very Birmingham - not very diverse but caring teachers. Weak academics but top notch for instilling social skills and very high parent involvement for school activities
