Mrs. Ferguson, who makes an effort to know each child's name. Our children are happy, love school, and we are happy with what they are learning. They all love the gym teacher! Our 2nd grade son has Mrs. Woehlke and we have really appreciated her individual attention to his needs and our concerns. Great school! We will be sad to leave the Hunter School family! The office staff is WONDERFUL!!

I love this school! I don't see anything wrong with the students having a break for their snacks in the morning and afternoon. I have a child in the lower elementary and there is proven research to show how benneficial a break is for a child's mind. I also volunteer at Hunter, and their breaks never exceed 15 mins.

I currently have 2 children at Hunter Elementary School. I am very satisfied with both the educational and social experience my children are receiving. They are treated with respect and compassion by the eintire staff. My Children attend Hunter as school of choice students and I am very pleased with my choice!

I tranferred my children three years ago to Hunter School and have had no issues with the staff or there policies. The Staff at Hunter Elementary is our extended family. They jump through hoops to make sure your children get what they need. They have the most loyal and helpful staff. Without the programs they offer my child would be behind. There are too many teachers to name I appreciate you all. My hat has to go off to Mr. Budziak, Mrs. Witte, Mrs. Serdy, Mrs. Meadows, Mrs. Petrone, Mrs. Wertenan, Mrs. Fergusson, Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Mathews. We couldn't suceed without you! You all go above and beyond your jobs!

Transferred my children from a charter school this year. Everyone told me how great the school is and how much I will enjoy it (especially after the issues I had with the other school). I have found that my children are not learning anywhere near as much. Three recess periods?? Why not use this time for more reading?

My three children attented Hunter for one year couldnt wait to pull them out . I thought the fourth grade teachers were lazy. I also thought the work they were doing compared to a third grade level .

All three of my children go to Hunter and I am very pleased! All of the teachers they have had so far have gone beyond what is expected of them to make learning fun. As a parent, I always feel welcomed and appreciated. Class sizes in the lower elementary grades are low. I beleive this is part of the reason the teachers are so successful. The students at Hunter receive Music, Art and Gym classes.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
