I have two children in Dutton. My husband and I enrolled our children here thru the school of choice program. We love the school and are very pleased with the way the entire school system is running. Dutton's staff are very supportive to our children, one with special needs, and the communication between parents and teachers is phanomial. I would highly recomend Dutton to anyone considering it. Hello, I do not have a child but a grandchild in your school, Olivia Marshall, I came to the Christmas program and was so pleased to hear the Principal read the prayer written by a student. The whole experiance in the beautiful High School was a pleasant experiance and it was also so good to hear songs about the 'True' meaning of Christmas. Thankyou to all who put so much effort into the program. Olivia's Grandmother, Mrs. Marchien Marshall

I have nothing but good to say about Dutton. Mr. Phillips is a wonderful man who really does go out of his way to make sure that everyone is happy. Almost every teacher that I have came into contact with has been so incredibly nice and totally concerned with my childrens well being. Dutton maybe an old school building but the staff is absolutley awesome!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
