My daughter started in preschool this past fall and we couldn't be happier. I was shocked to read the poor reviews from a few years ago. I think the School Board has been fantastic and has the best interest of the kids in mind at all times. Ms. Pam and Ms. Vanessa are fantastic, the best preschool teachers I could have ever imagined. We were originally just looking for a preschool for my daughter but we are so happy here I think she will continue with elementary school as well. Not only will she receive a great Christian education, she won't get lost in the 30+ class sizes at the public schools.

I love the teachers at this school and the education my child received last year and will receive this year! My son was in the young fives program last year and the curriculum was at or above the public school s curriculum. The fees are also reasonably priced and were the best in the area compared to other education-based preschools. There is also a small student-teacher ratio, which is great for helping young children. In the same aspect, the small class sizes can be a negative when making a transition to a larger public school setting. Overall this is a wonderful school and I would recommend it to anyone.

My child is a former student. It was not a good experience and we would never return...there is a such thing as TOO small...these classes are so small they are just not like the real world. 6 kids in one grade? That is just crazy...how will these kids compete in junior high, let alone college..... Also, I had numerous problems with the board and was very vocal...they never did anything but tell me I was a bad Christian.

I have a preschooler in St. Michael Christian School right now, and we love having him there! The teachers and staff are great. You can tell that they absolutely care about what they do, because they do it so well. The evidence is my son's enthusiasm... He WANTS to go to school, and when I see him after school, he is so excited to tell me about his day!

I recently opened this website because I heard that there were some negatvie reviews regarding St. Michael Christian School. I saw them, was surprised that they were there, and just had to respond. Since 2005, I have two relatives attending this school and am very satisfied with the quality of education they are receiving. In addition, the smaller class sizes are providing the opportunity for each of them to receive any individual attention that they may need. Even more important, they are learning about our Lord and Savior and what He expects from His children. I can see that this part of their education is definitely molding them into well behaved, caring and loving children. I recommend this school highly.

We have nothing but positive things to say about St. Michael Christian School. Our child is currently in the kindergarten program. The teachers have been absolutely terrific. We are amazed at how much our child has learned in the past four months. The smaller class size is great. The public schools currently have up to 27 students in the kindergarten class (with one teacher and sometimes an aide). How much learning is actually taking place there??? We will absolutely be sending our other children here. If you are considering a private school, definitely check out SMCS.

My children have been attending smcs since the first grade and although I do have to agree about the boards lack of taking care of situations I can not express enough how the wonderful the teaching staff more than makes up for their shortcomings.SMCS has been a blessing for our family and my children have truly learned so much more than just the acedemics they have learned good leadership qulities, how to problem solve and how to care for their fellow classmates. I can not stress enough how amazing the teachers are they actullay know your childs name and something about them they are not just a number or a child in the back row.The small class size ensures that your childs gets the help they need and that they do not feel overwhelmed. My children love going to school each day.

I was very disappointed with the last year my children attended this school. Church and school do not work together. Very disappointing. Would not recommend this school at this time.

I don't know who placed the comments just before this one but they obviously had no involvement or communication with the teacher or the other staff of this school because if they had they would known that their children had plenty of gym time and outdoor time (weather permitting) as well as assemblies geared specifically for preschool as well as great field trips (pumpkin patch/corn maze, Dominos farm, and roller rink.) There were some minor problems with one class but within a few weeks things were running smoothly and the problem left on her own without willing to try to work things out. This school can't be held responsible for one persons actions and this person is no longer with the school. As for the rest of the staff they are very dedicated and determined to make this next year a great one and I will be there to see it!

Within the 1st month, the preschool program lost many students. it was fair to good for my child....awful for some. Many kids hated going. The classroom was disorganized, it was not as fun as other schools, the teacher was abrupt several times with the kids and the material was way above the kids heads. Also, the kids never played in the gym and seldom played outside. The kids did not enjoy the class....the simple truth is there are better schools for less money. The tragic thing is this all lies with the board. They refused to hear the concerns of parents, they refused to act on those concerns...even when they lost students and money. Enrollment is so low for fall, they may not open and they still don't get it!

SMCS has been a great experience for us. The preschool program was excellent this year. The teacher is incredibly devoted and does an outstanding job of having fun with the students while teaching them all the basics and beyond. I also have to give her credit for tailoring the program to individual abilities as well. If a child showed great interest or skill in something, she did a good job of encouraging that and developing it further. I have no doubt that my child is ready for Kindergarten next year thanks to a program and teacher that developed self confidence, a love of learning, and an appreciation for creativity. I also love the Christian based education. The kids were taught to love and respect each other and to appreciate all that Jesus has done for us. I highly recommend this school and preschool program.

We chose St. Michael's based on their past reputation and it is just that a thing of the past it is not that the program is too easy it was not age appropriate in difficulty the children were often bored or confused about what was going on it was not a cheerful fun preschool.

Our daughter attended preschool and is now attending the K-5 program. We are very pleased with the biblical foundation, the excellent teachers, and family focused environment. We will enroll our second child next year (pre school program) and we are very confident that both kids will have a great experience.

I love St. Michael Christian School! I feel the pre-school program is filled with age appropriate activities for the children. Not only are basic skills being taught, such as cutting, gluing, and coloring, but also reading, math, graphing, and science concepts are being taught as well. All of these are important and have seen very similar activities done at other preschools as well. In comparison to other Pre-school Programs, St. Michael's seems to be on target. After reading some of the other reviews left on this message board, I'm not sure what those other parents are expecting. After all, it is pre-school, and the basic concepts of cutting, coloring, shapes, colors and numbers that the program emphasize are very age appropriate for pre-school ages 3 and 4, not to mention that a big part of pre-school is socialization and how to interact with others.

We enrolled our children in SMCS to give them a more positive christian education a few years back and up until about a year ago we were impressed. The school board and administration no longer treat us with the same respect that we once had been given. In my opinion for the cost of tuition there are better alternatives available. It is truly a shame that a few peoples egos can ruin a beautiful experience for the kids.

I would not recommend the preschool program to any parent and would not even let my child return even if it were free. The instruction is less than mediocre; the administration and Board are non-responsive; the activities are extremely age inappropriate. The reenrollment (or lack of) should speak volumes to the school and Board. Too bad the message was not heard earlier.

I cannot recommend this school based on this school year. The school board tries to sweep problems under the rug and they are completely unresponsive to parental concerns. I have never been more insulted by a school board - let alone a Christian one. To try to talk to the board is down right exhausting.

St. Michaels has been heartbreaking for our family. We went there for a Christian environment and found that we were not treated as people, customers or Christians by the adminstration. The parents have little to no say in the running of the school, and the board is unresponsive in dealing with the parents. They refuse to get involved or take the feelings of the parents into account. If you are choosing a Christian School for the parental involvement and Christain environment....keep looking. The teachers are loving and good, but the board and administration make it impossible to consider this school in the future.

The preschool program at SMCS has been a disappointment. The quality of teaching and the program has greatly diminished over the last year. My child loves the teachers and is happy in the classroom which is why we have remained, but I have observed much better programs elsewhere. In fairness the children are learning writing, phonics, letters, and science concepts. There is a nice chapel time, but the program lacks the warm fuzzies you'd expect at preschool. The simple truth is there are better programs out there for less money. The school board does not treat the parents with respect, nor does it appear that they feel responsible to us. They have continually not seen the problems and are reactive instead of proactive. I would not consider keeping my child here past preschool and am not considering it for my younger children.

My daughter has been going to SMCS from kindergarten and will continue through 5th grade. This is a GREAT school. I speak to many parents in Canton and hear all the complaints they have about the public school system. It is a Christian based school - no uniforms. The teachers/parents are wonderful. The teacher student ratio is amazing. In 4th/5th grade it's 17 kids with 2 full time teachers. The lower grades have 8-10 kids per teacher. I love it. My only small disappointment is the lack of outdoor playground equipment. There isn't enough room for a lot of huge jungle gym equipment. However, they have: swings, sand box, small climbing gym, riding toys, & hockey. They have talked about expanding SMCS play area outside-it would be super. There's also a wonderful gym and extracurricular programs -cheerleading, science club, drama club, etc. I am so thrilled we chose SMCS!
