Pathetic, I had the principal criticize me for giving my son a bologna sandwich for his lunch. He liked them dry, no mustard, no mayo! He didn't like ham or anything else yet I was criticized even though the rest of his lunc was well rounded and balanced.
I feel they could have more child - parent involvement. Less student to teacher ratio. And qualified Para professionals (Not noon aides ) Otherwise the school is new and the kids really like the gym teacher!
My son and I transferred here from Fraser schools where he attended Kindergarten. He had a very difficult time there with his behavior. The principle and his first grade teacher have helped him to work out his issues and he is behaving very very well. It is amazing how well he is learning now. Green also offers top knotch after school child care, I am a single parent and work full time and the SACC teachers are lke my sons extended family. I am very happy w/Green and lucky to have such a good set of staff.
Green does everything right! Academics, teachers, parent-teacher communication, extra-curricular activities, and the office and support staff are all fantastic! I love the fact that my kids never get an abundance of homework - what they get is appropriate and manageable to do at home on any given night. It is also a caring environment that focuses on positive behavior rather than the negative. A++++
My daughter attended 1st grade here. The academics are top notch. My daughter learns at a fast pace, she retained the information very well. Reading is very important at this school as well as math. My 2 complaints: my daughter came home almost everyday telling me how out-of-control the students were in her class. They had missed out on some in-class activities because the students wouldn't not calm down. My daughter was disrupted many many times by other students while trying to complete in-class work assignments. While the teaching is great, I'm not sure as to the control of the class room. Granted, it could have been just an isolated case for my daughter's class. The other complaint is how late the school day runs. My daughter didn't get off the bus until 4:15. I would still give this school a 7.5 out of
My daughter is in Kindergarten at Green School, the teacher has been great, understanding and patient. My daughter had a hard time adjusting to a scheduled atmosphere and being around a big group of kids, Mrs. Olcese helped us through it and my daughter is doing much better. The principal and her music teacher has also kept in touch with me, they work well with parents who need the extra support. My only disappointment thus far is that she is in Speech Therapy and that teacher has not kept me up to date, you do have to be the one to initiate contact to find anything out. However on the whole, I love this school.
Overall Green Elementary is a great school. If your child has learning problems such as ADD or ADHD, you have to keep on them to do what is right for your child. This goes from grade to grade make sure you keep on them. As long as you are actively involved they will work with you more. In my opinion there is to much emphasis on Spanish, Music and Art, if your child has problems reading and spelling English, this should come first not another language. Other than these issues Green is a great school.
