My daughter is just finishing up 2nd grade here and we absolutely love it. The curriculum is appropriate and challenging, and there are plenty of activities for the kids to learn and feel special.

I love this school because the teachers are kind and would do anything to help students be successful. My son is finishing up first grade and he has been very successful according to state assessments. I believe that this is because of the wonderful teachers at Naldrett Elementary. The principal is fantastic too!

I know lots of people that love this school, but I do not. If you are part of the group or click, you will excell. But beware, If you not accepted, there will be lots of teasing, and bullying if you are an outsider. If you are good friends and part of the community you will be fine. Acceptance is an issue with the community.

My daughter is in Kindergarten @ this school and it has been an absolute dream sending her there this year! The staff is wonderful, kind and interested in the kids that go to school there. It feels more like family than school. There are a ton of fundraisers throughout the year but if you can't do them all then you pick and choose what ones you want to do and let's face it, they are for our kids. They have several fun and educational field trips through the year and the parents are encouraged to participate in so much of the kids classes. I think this is a great school and I don't have one negative thing to say about this school. Unfortunately this is not our 'home school' so my child will not be attending next year and our family is very sad about that.

My daughter attended this school from 3rd to 5th grade and my son from 1st to 2nd. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who enjoys a school where they know your name, care about the kids and have a genuine interest in the productivity, empathy and future of children. Class sizes are well maintained and the teachers are well trained and willing to appreciate educational diversity. The principle, Ms. Markel is wonderful as well as her support staff. If we weren t moving we would finish our elementary school experience at this school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
