I have 2 children in this school, and couldn't be happier. The teachers truly care about the children, and keep the parents updated daily on what's happening in the classroom. Teachers respond to emails within 24 hours (usually much quicker), they have a lot of fun activities for the entire family. The reason my house it worth $50,000 more than an identical one 2 miles away is because of Fraser schools, and the outstanding job they do! A+++

If you're looking for a school that truly has your child's education in their best interest then you've definitely found it. This school encourages and welcomes parent involvement. I am always kept informed of what my children are doing. The learning curriculum is great. I highly recommend this school as an elementary school and I am a school of choice parent. Do your research on any school that you select and visit the school while they are in session if at all possible. Alot of schools may look good on paper and yet not be personable. Not at all the case with this school.

Salk has one of the most involved parent groups I have ever seen. This is a community! The teachers and parents accomplish so much together. Both my children benefitted so much from the challenging academic programs at this school. I believe these teachers and this school district understand the foundation our children need to succeed in this ever-changing world! I'm grateful.

Salk Elementary has been nothing but a breath of fresh air. We were able to meet with our child's teacher a week before school started.[old district never accommodated this]The teacher is very proactive with regard to our childs needs and particular situations. We are preparing for an IEP and several questionnaires have come home with very pertinent and detailed content.[again this did not happen in our last district]. We are only a month into the school year, but so far we have been blown away by this school and their staff.

I think Salk Elementary has been a wonderful place for my children. The teachers are dedicated to their students. Often times the teachers are not given enough credit for all of the hard work that they do. I also agree about the fundraising. There is too much.

I feel Salk Elementary has been a great learning experience for my son. I agree with previous statements about the PTO... they should be concerned with issues other than just fundraising... other than that, Salk has met all my expectations.

I agree with the fundraiser comments, they have way too many at Salk. My daughter is pushed to be competitive that way and I don't think it is necessary. Overall I am pleased with the school, and the teachers.

I have enjoyed the fact that my children attend Salk Elementary. We have been blessed with very good teachers. My family moved to this distric and are very happy with our choice. I will agree with the previous comment on PTO only about fundraisers. Salk has way to many fund raisers & feel they should be limited to 2 maybe 3 sales per year, not every month. We have been in school for 2 months and have already had 2 fundraisers - Entertainment Books & Marketday. I think the PTO should carefully review what fundraisers they want to do & choose wisely. Also the Ice Cream Social is a huge fundraiser, but should have WAY MORE activities for the amount of kids they trying to entertain in such asmall crowded place. In my opinion PTO really fails in that department.

We moved into the district last year. My stepdaughter was transfering in to sixth grade and was scared. The staff made her feel welcome and she adjusted wonderfully. Salks academic program is way above the school she came from. Now my 1st grader is there and he loves his class, teacher and school. Thank you to Salks teachers and parents who dedicated their time for all of our children.

Salk Elementary is a good school if your child is mainstream and has no special needs or excells in anything. Forget it if your child is both gifted in some areas and challenged in others - they won't know what to do with them so they blamethe child for being somehow defective. The PTO is a fundraising organization only. There is no place to have your concerns heard. They are very good at maintaining and protecting the status quo, and the illusion of 'learning for all WHATEVER it takes'. As long as it doesn't take any extra effort, resources or patience then OK they will deliver on the promise. Otherwise - be prepared to fight long, uphill battles at every level of the district - and accept substandard effort by staff and lowered expectations of your children as a result.

Salk Elementary is an excellent school! The teachers are very caring and nurturing. I have and Kindergardener and 2nd grader and both do very well. I think the acedemic programs are wonderful. Reading, Writing, Math and Science are started in Kindergarden. My 2nd grader is reading chapter books on her own and is starting multiplication and division in the math program already. This is such a great school that I am having a hard time finding a comparable school district to move in to.

Technology is our future along with the children. By taking away their library and computer privileges they will be two steps behind the students from the other schools.
