Polk Elementary School

We have had 5 children that attended Polk. We moved to the district because the school system had good marks overall. I was happy in our first year with the leadership and the teachers. The teachers are the shining stars here, but they have little guidance and support from the principal. After that first year it rolled downhill fast. Overcrowded due to school of choice, disorganized and a serious lack in the administrations leadership qualities. Two of my children were special needs students who were neglected by the district and I spent many days pushing the district to help them. They were not cooperative beyond rhetoric. Finally we left the area for a school system that has not only welcomed our children but is more than prepared and willing to see to their success -VanDyke Public Schools in Warren. Now our children are happy to go to school again and are making the grade with the structural support, opportunities and advancements they deserve. If you have a choice don't make it Polk Elementary.

I really like the teachers, each year it seems as though they go out of their way to help my son. For that I am extreamly greatful. Each year my sons grades improve, I attribute that to the teachers. I think Ms. B is such a help in the office for us parents, she goes that extra mile for me anyway.

We too love the teachers, but agree the school is overcrowded. We are leaving the district, although we'll miss the teachers, its impossible for our children to learn anything anymore because there are just too many kids crammed into the classroom. Our leaving will make no difference, because the district values the $$$$$ rather than student overall. Its time to move on.

This school has too many children in the classrooms and not enough more individual attention especially to the 1st grade and K.We are taking our children out and putting them in a charter school that has higher academic standards and smaller classrooms and more individual attention and more parent involvement. D#7 schools have changed immensely over the years.

Overall a good school with the best in mind for the kids. No matter where you go there will be those who don't share your ideas, but when you come across the exceptional teachers who care. It makes it all worth while. Keep up the good work and keep your standards high. A Caring Mom.

My son attends Polk elementary and absolutely loves it.We have a week left of summer vacation and he has ants in his pants to get back to school.Everything about this school is great!

I love this school. My daugter has a health condition & everyone there has been exceptionally helpful with dealing with the situation. The staff there is outstanding and i am so glad that both my kids attend school there!

My two oldest kids started their education here and went to this school until we moved. They were in 4th and 5th grade. I cannot say enough great things about this school! I have one starting Kindergarten soon and cry with tears of joy that she was excepted here. Great technology, teachers working with you to meet the children's needs, excellent lesson plans, helpful secretary...this school has it all.

My hat is off to Polk Elementary School! The Staff is absolutely wonderful! They go up and beyond the call of duty for 'their' kids. Wish this school would teach the children through the eighth grade.

I love this school. Both my children go here and the teachers and the rest of the school staff really care about all the students. From the school secretary (who is amazing) to the janitor in the evening. They all know the children and take interest in them as if they were their own. I cant begin to say enough wonderful things about this school.
