The teachers and administrators work hard to help all the students reach their fullest potential. The students work diligently to achieve educational excellence. Parents and community support the school efforts..

HORRIBLE...this school has continued to ride off of its old reputation for years. The principal and most of my child's 6th grade teachers were lacking..big time!! I will say her English teacher was excellent though. My child is an all A student and we couldn't wait until the school year was over. Parent participation is indeed high which was wonderful. The teachers, however, left much to be desired. An overhall of the teachers is a must for the students to truly be ready to compete. Loading the students up with homework does not make you an excellent school!!

I am very pleased with the education my son is receiving from the teachers at Ludington. They are young and enthusiastic. The attitude of the office staff and principal is not pleasant. They are very arrogant and I do not think they are happy about the fact of moving to a new building and having to accept the "neighborhood kids". It seems they are only concerned with maintaining their good school status and credentials. My son has always been an honor student and well behaved, and it has continued when he transferred to Ludington so that is not the issue. the women in the office really do have attitude problems and look down on the neighborhood kids and parents in my opinion.

I am very pleased with this school. I like the staff, and love the parent involvement. My son is really being challenged, I that is exactly what he needs. He is very smart but had become lazy, because at his prior school the work was easy. Ludington will bring out the best in him and show him that hard work pays off. I would highly recommend this school.

NEVER in any DPS school have I witnessed 75-85% parent involvment. ALL staff very helpful and concerned for ALL students. YES school curriculum very challanging the student understand what is expected of them. IF there is a problem, staff very helpful in with explanation of school work. My children ALL were/are honor students, DAPCEP.BETA CLUB, track team. one of my children won first place for the 8th grade 2010 DETROIT METRO SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR. he is currently a student at Cass Tech. Children will be children and very active but students I see are ALWAYS respectful and helpful. IF there were disrepectful student not acting as if they had home training it was because THE PARENT has not taught the child any home training. ALL staff keep the children under control the many times I've been in this school. KEEP THIS SCHOOL TOGETHER IN TACT WITH IT'S CURRENT STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION, AND UNDER IT'S CURRENT NAME

I am a parent of a 7th grader at Ludington and my son graduated in 2009 as and 8th grader. Ludington is a awesome school to be at, the principal, counselor, staff and the L.S.C.O. Parent Group is completed dedicated to making Ludington one of the Best Schools in Michigan. The academic learning enviroment is challenging to students because the teachers are striving hard to prepare All Ludington students for High School And College. That means, if your son or daughter is ready to handle there business, to strive to do there best, then Ludington is the place for you. If your children are average students and need a little extra help to reach there future goels in life, then Ludington is the place for you, if your child just want to play games and cause trouble within the class rooms and disrupt the learning process for the other children at Ludington, then Ludington is NOT the place for you. While reading these comments, I was VERY shocked, because I have a completely different view of Ludington. This school is not satifactory at all! The teachers are definately great and exceptional at their jobs, however, the principle and other administration have very little control over the students, and when students misbehave, the consequences don't fit the crime. Students have been caught "skipping" school and classes, vandalizing school property, and fighting on numerous occasions, and yet, all they get a a 2 day suspension (at the most). It's just ridiculous. I understand how DPS is struggling to keep students, but I believe that this is having a negative effect on the entire school. Ludington used to be a very good school, but now, it seems to be going downhill.

My son attended Ludington for 7th and 8th grade. My only regret is that I didn't put him there sooner. Ludington has been a pleasure for him academically and socially. He is now a freshmen at Renaissance High school. My experience as a parent with ludington school has been very satisfying. Some of the teachers My son had was very inspirational and supportive throughout his time at ludington and still today. Teachers like Mrs. Hightower, Mr. McAdoo and Mr. Towns; Gives Parents like me faith in the public school system! I highly reccommend this school to any parent who wants a good education for their child.

i've recently graduated from Ludington Magnet Middle School and now attend Reni c/o 08', and from experience, attending Ludington from 5th grade until 8th, i have to say, i've loved it. if offers many, many great activities. the staff are wonderful, they're kind of teachers where they develope a natural relationship with the students, where we can talk to them about any thing. some of them i know, have known each other for a long time, so they have that family relationship among them. It really helps the students, our former principal whose just retired Jennifer Shelton was a great principal, we all loved her. she was stern and followed up on everything, she cared so much about the wellness and progression of the students. I can truly say Jennifer Shelton was about her business. I recommend this school to any parent who cares about their children's education.

I really do not like this school. My daughter has went through this whole week without a Social Studies teacher, which I think is very unacceptable. The staff plays innappropiate songs during the school dances, the school is unsanitary, the students and staff are rude and disrespectful, and the list goes on and on. It's a shame

I will not take anything away from this school academically this school is great but it ends their. The policies at this school are ridiculous, their is an air of arogance in the staff that is totally innappropriate for an educational institute they really believe that it is 'their way or no way'. Again this is a good school for certain children, if you have any concerns about your child, i.e. academics, behavior, attentiveness, ambition dont send him/her to this school because the environment is not condusive to building children up only about perserving the reputation of high performance.

My son has been attending this school for 3 months now. It was rough for him switching from a charter school in the middle of the school year, but seems to be adjusting well. I,m a little skeptical about this school, but willing to try another year. The students seem to be a little more mature than what my son is use to. My son even tells me stories of profanity used by a teacher and a lot of students. I'll give him another year and see how things go. My son says the teachers explain assignments better. He does work more independantly as well. He seems to be progressing academically. I'm very excited about that! I'll give you updates next school semester. I here they give more homework in six grade.

I am ery unexpectedly pleased with one of DPS's best kept secret...Ludington Magnet middle School. I have one son who is currently attending. This is his first year and it is wonderful to see his academic growth in the past few months coming from a Charter School in Southfield. I never thought I would be so pleased with DPS. The teachers and the principal are great, especially Ms. Vorus, one of the math teachers. She really challenges the young mind and make them think intellectually. This school deserves a new building because the students and the staff work hard at preparation for high school and beyond!

I am very happy with Ludington Magnet Middle School. I have 1 child that attends she is an 8th grader. She has been a student since the 5th grade and I have seen her grow. Ludington has helped her in more ways than one. The teachers, counselors, and the principle are all awesome. Ms Fisher has been a great support to my daughter.

I have one child that currently attends Ludington and another starting in the Fall. I think that the school is a good school with lots of great attributes, however I, too agree with other parents that express disappointment in the lack of communication and assistance when your child is not doing well. Everything is great if your child is doing well. I, too see the lack of respect and courtesy in which some teachers treat the students. The school has a great principal and young upcoming teachers, but more communication between teachers & parents should be addressed especially when problems exist. I still obviously believe in the school because I am enrolling another child. I believe the problems that exist with the teachers can be corrected if addressed effectively by the principal. Hopefully, my faith in the school prevails and productive changes are made.

I have an 8th grader currently attending Ludington and a 10th grader that attended, both started at the 5th grade and I am extremely pleased with Ludington. A school is only as good and strong as it's leader and Ms. Shelton is excellent. I am glad my son is graduating before she even considers retiring. The teachers are not always the most personable people you will meet but if you are looking to help your children you can get help, even if Ms. Shelton has to intervene. The Office staff are extremely helpful also. Ludington is definitely a place to send your children to achieve excellence.

I have a daughter that graduated form Ludington and is doing very well in the 10th grade. I also have a son that goes to Ludington now and he has a 4.0 grade point average. Ludington has an excellent leadership and academic standards that they have instill in my children to achieve to the next level. The principles, teachers and staff are dedicated to their students. I would give Ludington Magnet Middle School on a scale of one to ten, definitely a ten.

I read these feedbacks before I put my son in this school, however I have not been satisfied yet. The teachers with a few exceptions are great if your child is doing well. If your child is failing or falling behind, getting help is like pulling teeth. Also I have not had a good experience with the principal. I don't know if she was having a bad day but, I did not appreciate her attitude towards me the parent when there was a problem with my child. Also, Ludington gives these children so much work. I have heard consent complaints about how the teachers treat the students. Their communication is poor and they do not handle problems or questions well. My child will not be attending another year.

Teacher changes in the past 2 years have resulted in 7th & 8th grade communication breakdowns. My children have reported back some serious issues concerning the behaviour of one teacher & nothing has been done. I will say that Mrs. Shelton & Mrs. Maxwell-Comer do a lot to ensure the kids receive what they need. However, the increasing 8th grade summer school rate each year (so the children may pass to 9th) needs to be addressed. Unacceptable for this school.

Ludington is a great school. They have excellent academic programs and a great staff. This school does exceptionally well on tests and other assessment programs such as the MEAP. Extracurricular activities are also available. They have boys/girls basketball, academic games, chess club, etc. Parental involvement is very high. At Ludington students are equipped with an academic planner. This planner contains homework assignments, student grades, and comments from the teacher. While the school may have a dress code there are other things to look forward to. This includes dances, sales, trips, and many other things. So if you you are looking for a outstanding school, come to Ludington, home of the Bulldogs.

Before enrolling my child in Ludington, I was excited because I had heard great things about the staff. However, my child has been enrolled there for 3 years and I have yet to be satisfied with things. The staff does not communicate well with parents especially in failing situations. Mrs. Shelton however, has been a great Principal and I have only good things to say about her.

'Ludington Magnet Middle School is one of the best places to put your child(ren).' There are excellent programs, teachers, and administrators. There is a band program, LEGOleague, National Junior Beta Club, Basketball, and many other. For the 8th Graders their is a program for acting and that is called Play Production. The teachers have the students disiplined and very well educated. Mrs. J. Shelton is one of the best principals you could ever imagine. New, good teachers are always coming in to teach new great things. In the school the administrators and parents hold a LSCO Meeting every month to discuss MEAP scores, school improvements, and more. Overall Ludington is the best!

Ludington is a very well-educated school. This year is my first year, and I already love it. The after school activities are wonderful(cheerleading, pepsquad, chess, academic games, etc.) Our principal Mrs.Shelton tries her hardest to keep this school a well ran school, and that's one of her many sucesses. The students learn, while having a fun time! So if your looking for a great school to let your child attend,Ludington is the school!

Ludington Magnet Middle School is an excellent choice if you are a parent unsure of where to send your child for middle. My son has grown so much mentally and educationally. The teachers are willing to go the extra mile to help your child acamedically. The entire staff is friendily and supportive. The principal takes care of business. She maintains the school like a well oiled machine. The MEAP scores are above standards. There are several extracurricular activities to keep your child challenged (cheerleading, basketball, dance, chess, academic games,Lego league, beta club, student council, and school aides). Ludington requires your child to maintain a certain grade point average. This will keep your child busy because there's homework every night. The parents are encouraged to keep up with their childs grades. The students post their grades in a planner. The planner has to carry to every class to keep homework. Ludington is an excellent choice!

Ludington Magnet Middle School is a wonderful place to be. There might only be a few problems because of the staff that has been gained and lost. The safety is wonderful (Security Guard), most of the teachers most parents have no problem with. Problems mostly happen with some of the new teachers. Ms. J. Shelton is a great principal. The parents are incouraged to get involved and alot do. Extracurricular activites are ok, they include cheerleadering, student council, national junior beta club (honor's society), choir, 8th grade play production, basketball (girl & boy), ect. The only down side are there are no clubs. If your child does well alone and a group, I would recomend Ludington, especially those who are looking to go to the big three: Cass, Renaissance, King -Class of 2004 former student.
