I am sorry, as an educator with different types of experiences I try to keep an open mind to the diversity in schools and selection. After working and being part of Hope of Detroit Academy, I would not send or even consider this school for my own children. It is not due to other students, parents, or environment. It is due to the lack of compassion teachers and especially administration has for parents, students, and one another. I also saw and felt that classrooms are filled just to be able to bring in more money. The school leader is in it for all the wrong reasons. More money, more money for his pockets. Teachers there are overworked and slowly have deteriorated them selves. Teachers there do not teach to help the student become a well rounded students, but teach in a robotic fashion of how to teach, when to teach, and what to teach. I just do not deem it as a good educational experience for any student. The building is falling apart and in the summer or warm months it gets so hot in the school that students sweat so much that there is not possible way to for them to focus. Oh by the way, there is no gym, and only one set of bathrooms for a school with over 500 students.
