I like the new leadership and direction of DAAS. I have children at the Medbury campus.

DAAS displays its self as something that its not. I've attended DAAS for 2 years and I must say it has went down hill within those 2 years. The administrators are removing all of the good teachers and replacing them with substitutes that are just temporary. One of the 10th grade math classes has had 3 teachers in 1 school year. The ACT scores are poor and DAAS is not preparing the students for college. I WOULD NEVER recommend everyone to send there child or children to DAAS.

this school is terrible. I left ROHS in Royal Oak Michigan to attent DAAS. There arent textbooks peroid. The bathrooms are terrible. The sercurity guards carry guns with live ammunation. The school didnt have a precalcululs teacher for several months and when a teacher was hired we reviewed elementary and basic algebra for one semester while recieveing credit for pre calculus. I recieved two semesters of credit for pre calculus while we never made it pass the half way mark of the first chapter. This school district should be closed. It does more harm than help.

My son attended this school for 7 years. No organized, when they get good teachers they let them go. They put teacher in place that can teach the subject that are required. They are more worried about the clothing they have on instead of the type of education they are receiving. I am glad we are out of that school.

I'm very pleased with the standards that the school has for it students. My children have been enrolled for a year. I like that the teachers push my kids to think. This also has my younger son coming home to ask me questions. Keep it going. Signed A Pleased Mom

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Michigan used the Michigan Merit Examination (MME) to assess students in grade 11 in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The MME is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MME test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
