Great charter school. It's like a free private school. Some parents complain about how the school has too many rules ,yet those same parents will let there kids dye there hair and wear accessories that aren't allowed.
Besides the lack of speech it's a pretty nice school, the teachers are nice but the school overall is very strict.
My son has attended ORA for 3 yrs and I have found the academics are excellent. as long as the students apply themselves they excel. Parent access (Skyward) is a great concept, but it is not updated regularly.
im a sophomore here at ORA. This is my second year at this school and I believe it isnt so bad. Last year as a freshmen i managed to maintain at least a 3.5 for all cardmarkings. This year I am currently a geometry and english honors student. overall, this school may not be so great but the school is improving every year to make things better
I think its a wonderful school. I love the dress code and the strict discipline. I send both of my kids their and they have had a positive experience. My son is on the basketball team and has a 3.8 GPA. And my daughter has a 3.4 GPA. Education comes first and other activities come second.
I think that school is what you make of it, I think that this is a very good school, if you want extra activities there are always things in the neigborhood .
this school is the most boring school to attend. they worry more about the boys hair lenghth then ther education. When it come to school sports and extra curicular activities thers no good thing kids would want to do and they dont care about the football team at all.
this is the worst school ever i suggest no one take there child here if they want them to have a good eduation
im a freshmen at ora and its not the school i would like to be at but i do very well here. im on the honor roll for 3.5-3.9 and i like how good im doing. this is a great school, most of the parents who you see complaining about the school just have kids who are bad, trouble, and are the ones who make it hard for everyone else, its not the teachers and education staff who are not trying its thier children who want to act up.
My children have attended Old Redford Acad. Prep. H.S. since its inception. This school has improved significantly since its beginning. They are now accredited, all of the teachers are certified, they still demand a very strict, orderly, clean and safe enviroment for our children to learn, and they have a very strong and knowledgeable principle along with a caring and helpful staff. I can definitely tell that my children are learning and being challenged more now that the school has a stable and certified teaching staff. Thank God for Old Redford Acad. Prep. H.S.
While the school is not the best, I have to say that the teachers at ORA are very good. They do what they can which what they have and try to teach their students. Being a former teacher at ORA, I know a lot of the teachers that are still there and I know the problems they face. The only good thing going for this school are the teachers.
Would you like to see your child succeed to the next level in life?. If your answer was yes, please do not attempt at sending your child to this school. They mainly focus on detentions, suspensions, explusion, and overall wearing correct uniform. This school really has not one great techer except for the ones they decide to let go which is very unfortunate. Old Redford is also going through rough times getting accrediation by the State Of Michigan. Need I remind you that they also have problems getting schlorships for students and are not really scouted for because of the lack of learning that goes on in this very school. I also would like to point out that this is a preparatory school which means that they are supposed to prepare you for college, and yet they have trouble passing the ACT exams. Its all a shame.
These parents most likely have problem children. ORA is accreditted, and is a school on the rise. The teachers are great, and is improving each year. See for yourself...
I took my daughter out of Old Redford, because the school does not have it's accreditation and never informed the parents that about the lack of accreditation. If I would have known this prior to enrolling my daughter I would not have sent her there for a semester to have to transfer her to another high school that has it's accreditation. Also the high school hasn't made the state AYP standards for 3 years in a row which doesn't look good for school sponsered by any Univeristy.
This has got to be the worst (jail) in michigan the students are treated like prisoners they have no rights or opinions only detentions where as the punishment never fit the crime, there is no parental involvement allowed they tell you parents can be involved but when you exercise your right to be involved you are rejected and told we have people in place to handle that what ever the situation may be. This was my biggest mistake so far, having my son attend ora high school. Thank god i took him out of there because he would not have graduated. Parents please beware, beware beware of old redford academy high.
If you are looking for a school that offers a complete and college-preparatory education, don't even think of ORA. Please, don't send your kids to ORA! You will be making the biggest mistake of your life!
Ora do not have no other activities, the parents have no nothing to do with the school. But overall this is not the school of success
