We are considering moving to Detroit to attend Wayne State University. We have a 5-year old. What's the best school near Wayne State campus? Private

I am a teacher at a private school that is currently located in southwest Detroit but is moving right by Wayne St. (corner of Warren and Trumbull) this coming fall. It is a small Christian school based on the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason.

There are several public and private schools you should check out:

Private:
Friends School of Detroit (Lafayette near I-75) - my children current attend

Public/Magnate:
Chrysler Elementary (k-5) (Lafayette near I-75)
Burton International (Pk-8) (Mack/MLK near Rosa Parks)
Golightly Elementary (Pk-8) (St Antoine near Ferry)

Charter:
Detroit Edison Public School Academy (St. Aubin and Willis)

If you child is Pre-K, I highly, highly recommend Mrs. Luke for Pre-K at Golightly.

My son attends Detroit Waldorf School and we couldn't be happier. It is in Indian Village, not far from WSU campus.
