I am really impressed by the staff at the school. We moved in the middle of the school year and I was worried about how my daughter would adapt. The teacher and the staff have made her change to a new school an easy one.
Dryden Elementary is a nice little school in a small town community. The teahers and staff are both professional and friendly. When I've had concerns or questions they have been immediatly addressed. I would like to see a curriculum night at the beginning of each school year to better inform parents.
Dryden Elementary is a small town school that is really keeping itself competitive. The teachers and staff encourage and welcome parental involvement. We have a new principal suggesting and supporting ideas, while working to keep us up-to-date. We are in the process of replacing our old reading program, updating our computer technology and improving our playground. The teachers I have come in contact with are very connected to the students and offer a number of methods to help them succeed. Our test scores were great last year and we even led the county in some categories. Being a small district pays off for us because we are able to stay current without all the redtape involved with the larger districts! I would suggest sending your kids here and becoming involved to any parent considering it.
Dryden Elemntary is a very up close and personal school when it comes to teaching. There are a lot of activities that involve the family and siblings that helps keep the community tight. The equipment as far as computors is very current although some of the books may be dated, but those books have been proven and that works just fine when a child is just learing to read. I am talking of lower grades including kindergarten. Teachers are top notch and being a small community, are involved and available at all times.
Dryden Elemtary is a great place for kids to learn at all levels. The teachers are personally aquainted with their students and families. Parent involvement is outstanding, which is a benefit of raising kids in a small town. The principal is innovative and truly cares about the children in this school.
I would have to agree with the other reviews of Dryden Schools. There is very little resources offered for children struggling. What truely bothers me is the lack of privacy that the children get- if a kid is having problems the staff and volunteers/parents all talk about the poor kid and the whole town knows about it. The staff is not capable of teaching anything above or below grade level. The math program is beyond a joke. The music/band program is down right scary. The best thing I can say is that there is a large number of parents involved in the school and the parents in the PTA do a great job for the kids. Great community-poor schools Advice: Private/Home school!
Dryden Elementary School is basically a joke. They don't offer any extra help to students who need it. The math program they use is ridiculous, not to mention the amount of money spent on it. It does nothing but confuse the students and teaches them 3 methods to figure out one problem. The principal situation is a joke as well. My child's second year in the school, it was the first day of school and the principal quits. There is no structure or any organization at this school. It's as hokey as the town is. Be prepared to spend money on a tutor if you put your child in the schools in Dryden.
Dryden Elementary has nothing to offer those students that need extra help (Learning disabilities). I have been trying all school year to get an IEP for my child. Finally in May I will meet with an IEP team. Wonder why it takes so long. I am very disappointed with this school. Like so many have said....the teachers are not willing to go the extra mile. The kids get left behind.
I have 3 children in Dryden schools and all three are very different learners, one is a superstar (bored and not challenged) one is a little slower on the understanding (being left behind) and the third is middle of the road (doing well) I am dissapointed in the school system where extra help is needed. they don't seem to think it's important. I do love the teachers, they are all very friendly and willing to listen, but unwilling to act upon a request.
Dryden Elementary has a very high ratio of kids per teacher. There are 32 children in my child's classroom. They have very poor special resources and tend to leave struggling children behind.
