I am a parent of a 5th grader at Dundee middle School and I feel that 5th grade and even 6th grade should be in the Elementary School. The teachers expect the 5th graders to become totally independent from day 1. I am not happy with 5th grade thus far. My son has had several quizzes on one day more than once. How much studying can one kid be expecxted to do in one night? thye offer an after school tutoring program that is a joke. The kids just do their homework or read for an hour, no help there! The AR reading program is set up for failer. I am all for reading but the are expected to get 30 AR points per semester, if you get 2 or 3 wrong on a test you do not get all the points for that book. Put 5th grade back in Elementary!

I am a current student at Dundee Middle School and I feel that this school is not for students who want a challenge when it comes to academics. Classes are too easy for intelligent students, and I think Dundee should offer an honors/gifted program for those who want a challenge. I also think dundee should have classes in a foreign language. There are very few extracurricular activities other then sports, however the music program is top notch and has an excellent instructor. I think there should be more academic clubs. The principal does a great job of showcasing well accomplished athletic and academic students.
