I removed my kids from the public tawas schools, the really are lacking and would rather put a child in special education classes instead of actually working with them, after moving my children to sunrise school, they have improved greatly, they are now doing above the normal level and my youngest child will be starting this year. I just wish they covered all the way to high school. the jr high/high school here is so bad i sent my oldest boy to relatives for the school year.

In response to the Jan 20, 2009 review, Sunrise Education Center places the child at their academic level. If the child is not at grade level they work with the child to get them there. If the child is tested and working above grade level they are placed at the level. The school offers hot lunch program for 2.40 a day- unless you qualify for free/reduced lunches and supplies free milk.

The school is behind on academic materials. They do not offer lunch programs. Classrooms have 2 different grades in them so time is wasted teaching both grades.

My daughter attended the Pre-School program last year with 7 other students. The teacher is fantastic and I was very please with her progress. We will be sending her there for kindergarten this year.

Low Ratio for student-teacher makes for special time with each child. The curriculum is based entirely upon where your child is and amended to grow with that child. There is an open-door parent policy/participation for parental involvement as well as parents on the board. My kindergarteners (twin boys) were reading the second month of school! And all this is free! A public school academy with high standards like this school is the only place I want my children to attend. Best decision I have ever made.
