I myself went to Edwardsburg k-12 and loved it then and still do. We are thinking of moving from the area and its not our family thats making the decision of moving hard, its the school system. I love the experiences my children get from Edwardsburg. I have one in the middle, one in the Intermedate and one in the primary. Its neat to even see the principal from the eagle lake out and about and know who my youngest is just by remembering his big brothers and know them all by name.

My daughter entered Eagle Lake after her 1st grade year at Edwardsburg Primary, and she was in a Montessori school immediately prior to that. She was in the multi-age program, which we thought modeled the Montessori idea of children of different ages learning together, and having a chance to be mentored by the olders, and then be the leaders. My daughter loved her school, loved her teachers, and excelled in this program. Whatever belittling was referred to in another review was not apparent to me or my child. Great experience

Sadly, we were a new transfer in the second semester. The principal was very helpful but not enough to overcome the crowded classrooms, difficult teacher(3rd grade), hours of homework, and daily belittling towards the students. Unreasonable expectations and picky grading at the elementary level. Months of preparation shot down in a few weeks. We withdrew our child within a month and a half. Beware!

My son is in the 3rd grade and doing wonderful. He loves to get up in the morning and goto school. After being told that he was not reading past a 1st grade level he is now above average. Thank you to all the teachers and support staff at Eagle Lake for putting a smile on my sons face.

My son is a 2nd grader at Eagle Lake in the multiage program. He has done multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, several science activities and studied art by VanGogh and other famous artists.

we moved to this district from indiana because we were homeschooling due to poor schools. at that time my oldest daughter was starting division and fractions at 7 years old. we moved at the start of the school year, 3rd grade for my daughter. i still have yet to see the 'blue ribbon' academics as they so claim. by the time she was finished with the year her teachers taught her nothing. they never even got to division, barely touched cursive, and had recess 3-4 times a day. in essence, they made my children less intelligent than when they started. very poor marks for edwardsburg.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
