The ABCI grading system is not a 'program' but rather a mastery learning phillosphy to prepare kids for the real world (including high school). Kids who are used to doing all of their work like this grading policy because they get chances to do even better than they have been doing. Kids who have special need really like it because for the first time most of them are getting honor roll status grades. Kids who are used to skating by doing bare minimum & not doing all their work don't like it. In high school, college or employment, doing D level work does not prepare you for the next level and/or gets you fired. This year we had so many kids on the honor roll it was amazing! And we received an 'A' on our AYP. Way to Go Evart!

This school has an A,B,C,I program. Most parents including myself think this program is terrible. Your child must recieve an A B C on all work or they get an I.Then the kids are punished by not being able to do things with the class until the I is redone.Or if they get a B or C they can redo it for a better grade. This is setting the kids up for failure when they get into the High School. The High school does not have the A B C I program and most kids and parents don't understand that if the work isn't done right the first time it can't be redone for a better grade. Lots of parents are very upset about this but are afraid to make waves because they don't want it taken out on their kids next year. Not every thing is bad. Mrs. Morgan is wonderful.
