My children attended this school for 5 years, academics are so so, LOTS of homework, even in younger grades:-(. Teaching children the Catholic faith was also not a priority. Bullying was rampant when we left. Staff in office was always rude but has since been replaced, so maybe it is on the right track. They have morning and afternoon prayer which is nice.
I used to play this school in athletics, all they focus on is winning winning and more winning. It is outragous! All they do is practice, and ive heard their academics aren't that great. There are better catholic schools in this area.
Just completing one year (2 kids:K + 4th grade). Kindergarten is slow in getting kids to read. Grading policy in Elementary school very unfair. The amount of hwk per night reminds me of high school: 1-1.5 hrs per night. Even on weekends. Excessive amounts of quizzes and tests- one week just recently 4th grade had 1-2 tests per day, plus nightly 2-3 subjects of homework. When do kids have time to be kids after school? A lot of grading is on organizational skills of the kids, or of the parents, not on the merit of academic achievement. For ex: If you forgot to bring a pretest back to review, you got a 0% averaged into your subject grade, not the actual score you got on the pretest (95%). Excellent MEAP scores. I think this reflects the child and parental involvement more than the daily hwk. New principal may improve situation.
- lots of parental involvement - very good sports program - poor music program - high number of students in classroom (30) - above average quality in academic programs - too much art focus - at the expense of academic fundamentals - some excellent teachers - most below average
