St. Mary Cathedral School

We love St. Mary! We have 2 children in elementary school. They both love school and are excelling both academically and spiritually. The school's standardized test scores are outstanding and the extra-curricular opportunities are excellent. I am impressed that the students--even in high school--are confident enough to try everything! Most football players are also in the choir, for example. This is a Pre-K through 12th grade school and there is a great deal of cooperation and interaction between all of the kids. There are mentoring programs for the older kids to help the younger kids. The children are involved in the community (service hours) and are taught the Seven Pillars of Catholic Character. The teachers care deeply about the success of my children. They will stop me in the hall to tell me funny things that my children have said or reasons for me to be proud of them.

As an alumna of St. Mary Cathedral School, and now the parent of a First Grader and a Pre-Schooler next year, my husband and I are very pleased with the quality of education provided. My education at St. Mary's prepared me well for college and ultimately life. My son's teachers over the past three years have led him to grow both intellectually and spiritually. The atmosphere of the school is extremely family-oriented and welcoming offering parents plenty of opportunities to be involved in their child's education. We feel confident that the investment we're making in our children's education is a step toward ensuring a happy, successful, well-balanced life.

We have daughters in First Grade and Pre-K and we are so thrilled with our experience so far. As parents that both work, it is important to know that our girls are in a safe, loving environment. In the short time that we have been at St. Mary's we feel like we are leaving the girls with extended family. We have been amazed with all that the girls are learning beyond the curriculum. At St. Mary's the curriculum teaches respect and helps build character and confidence in each child. St. Mary's offers sports programs, music programs and a theatre program. St. Mary's is the best school in Northern Michigan!
