I went to this school in the 90s and it's still great to this day. My sister goes there now.
I was a very popular kid at rosy mound but, i had a teacher that didn't know how to help me with my dyslexia. When i would get called out to meet with the reading specialist, my teacher would act mad. I always felt frustrated. Even some of the parent volunteers that read backpack books with me made me feel like i wasn't trying hard enough or wasn't good enough. Even though my friends were nice, i was very unhappy at rosy mound and i had a hard time learning. I go to a different school now and i'm doing well. I get alot of one on one attention and i never feel like i'm a failure because i have a learning disabilty. Not every kid can be perfect and kids shouldn't have to be overachievers to be accepted by teachers and parents. Believe me competition isn't healthy in elementary school.
We are now putting our third child through Rosy Mound School - our eldest is in High School and is doing very well, partly from having a good start at elementary level. The teachers are always courteous and eager to help your child succeed. At our previous school district, parent involvement was not welcomed so much as it is at Rosy. We always feel welcomed at the school, and the Principal is always eager to hear your comments and help with any problems you may have. We will be sorry to leave Rosy Mound when our third child leaves, as it really does feel like a family when you are there. Please keep up the good work, my children have enjoyed their elementary years.
I truly believe that Rosy Mound is a great school. The staff is very friendly and are concerned about the achievements of our children. I have a son going into 1st grade and one starting Young 5's this fall and I am so excited to be part of the Rosy Mound family. There is a lot of parent involvement and I think that is a good thing. It keeps parents involved in what is going on with their children and active in the education of our future leaders. Congrats to the principal and staff at Rosy Mound and keep up the good work!
Rosy Mound is a wonderful and supportive school for students. I can truly say that this is the best place for my children to learn and grow. The entire staff goes the extra mile for students. When you walk the halls of Rosy, you can see the learning happening. Students are engaged in learning, great classroom projects are in the halls along with outstanding art work. The leadership and dedication of this staff proves itself over and over each year with outstanding MEAP scores. The parent involvement is very large, which gives Rosy Mound students great opportunities. Congrats to the Rosy Mound staff, I am very thankful that my kids attend there!
I have two children in Rosy Mound School and as a whole I have been quite happy with both the academic program and the staff. When my oldest was struggling with reading difficulties both his teacher and the reading specialist refused to allow him to slip behind. They worked with him diligently until the problem was pin pointed, all the while keeping my husband and I well informed. There is a lot of parent involvement and although I may be guilty of grumbling through making one special project or another, I am glad to know what is going on in reference to my children s education. Above all I feel that Rosy Mound is a good elementary school and when in the near future my kids transfer into middle school they will find themselves well prepared.
Yes, this school is competitive, but that's part of what makes this a good school. As a parent of children with learning diabilities, I am so grateful for the support and the extra miles the principal and teachers have gone to see that my children received the help they needed. It is challenging (what school isn't these days? My children will know more in 4th grade than I learned in all of elementary!), but I know my children will definitely benefit in the long run.I don't necessarily agree with the principal/teachers on everything, but that's life. You will never please all the people all the time. I want the best for my children, and I believe Rosy Mound provides it.
When we moved to the area my son started first grade in the middle of the school year and was welcomed by his teacher and classmates with open arms. With the help of a staff reading specialist, his reading/writing skills has improved dramatically and so has his self confidence. The organized school activities are plentiful with many opportunities for parents to be involved. I'm looking forward to my younger son starting Kindergarten this fall.
Rosy Mound is an exceptional school. Our teachers are second to none, and provide an outstanding education to our children. They care about every student. Our principal cares about his students. He has new ideas that are making our kids education excting, fun, and something they will appreciate. Our parent volunteer base is exceptional. Support staff is ready to help any student. We couldn't have a better educational atmosphere for our children to attend school than Rosy Mound. We are fortunate to have this school in our district.
My husband and I purposely chose this school for our children to attend based on not only the strong leadership shown by the principal and staff, but also their kindness and dedication to our children's success. My kids love to go to school at Rosy Mound.
