My daughter attended 7th and 8th grade here...very pleased with the school and what it had to offer. My other two daughters will be attending hayes in the next couple years so I'm pleased anout that....just beware because there are so many teenagers here tons of drama and drugs. But teachers and academics are great!!

This school has excellent teachers--no complaints there! However, too much special attention is given to the cream of the crop/favorite students, while other kids are left out in the cold when it comes to club and sports opportunities. Even if you get good grades, follow the rules, and are well-behaved, opportunities are not given to you unless you are one of the favorites. Other kids are left feeling like they're "not good enough".

I love this school! This is my second year there and I could not ask for anything better!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
