Middle school is a transitional period that is difficult for some students and some teachers at ALL schools. I have one son currently at Pinewood and one that was there for all 3 years. Both get good grades and are active in sports. Pinewood has good incentives that reward good behavior with trips and priviledges. I like the online grades system and am able to intervene and help my kids get the grades up before it is too late. If the student or parent shows interest in improving grades, the teachers will work with you. I've read a few reviews and it is unfortunate that some parents believe that their child's happiness and grades are the fault of the teachers and school.
Pinewood has long been known to be the best all-around school in Kentwood. With the change in Principal a year ago, the availability of programs and parent involvement has increased significantly.
A school is supposed to be challanging and is supposed to help you when you need it. I as a student in high school think that Pinewood did great in both of these areas. The teachers offer times to come in after school and work with you if you need it. Pinewood is amazing and was excellent for me. The discipline there is phenominal. Yes the population is large, but the diversity is great and helps get you ready for your life choices. You will have problems at any school with bullies but the school handles them wisely.
great i love pinewood it is very safe and we are right next the highschool and a movie thaeeter we walk to the theater for field trips we do it alot becuase it is 5 bucks and they dont have to spend money on buses
This school has been great for my son. The teachers are caring yet hold him accountable. I am pleased with how he is becoming more responsible.
My son enjoys very little about Pinewood. Many of the students are rough, to say the least. They try to keep a handle on situations that arise, but understandably, with such a large number of students, this is impossible. As parents we appreciate many of the veteran teachers, and their hard work. If it wasn't for the many behavioral problems in the school, and the overly populated student body, we would have rated it much higher.
My son is going to the 7th grade at Pinewood. He's still seems a little lost there. I wish the counselors would talk to all the students privately about any and everything and see how they are doing and let them know that they are there for them. They should not wait until there is a big problem.
This school has been great for my son. It is clean and there are always activities.
I think it should be a 1 because my daughter had to transfer schools because of bullies. There are definently health issues because my daughter is always complaining she's not feeling well after school. She got way to much homework and to much stress in her teenage life! she always got pressured and teased and cried mearly everyday. She had horrible grades and claimed that teacher were to harsh on her to. That is why it should be a 1. Its rediculous how horrible pinewood is and I could keep listing things forever but I'll be nice and not continue.
