I am a graduate of HEART Academy. I have no regrets about attending school there. When I was a student I had some unhappy times, but that's life. HEART Academy takes away all of the distractions of going to a public school. I loved the small student body. It was nice to walk into school and not be surrounded by strangers. Just as any school does, HEART did have some issues. But thats any place. The school also lacks parental involvement. Unlike public schools that has security guards to keep kids in line, HEART Academy has used parents help. I love my old high school.
Iam a parent and my child attends heart and I thought that it would help her with getting ready for the real world it has been a night mare the teachers don't no how to talk to the parents or students my daughter came for daas there the teacher took time to help the students this school no she went form a 3.00 to 1.8 her friends allso I was talking to other parents and they all said the same thing there are no activities at all but gym high school is suppose to be a good memory I no mines was
I am a former student of HEART Academy and there was a lot of drama, disrespect, and immaturity. This 2010-2011 year has really gotten out of control. I would not reccomend the school to any student because of all the distractions.
I am a student at Heart Academy. And the school has SO MUCH DRAMA and problems. The students are very rude, and mean towards each oher. But the school academically is good. But we need MORE ACTIVITIES. Its a shame we dont have many activities for the students. but overall, its okay.
I am a former student at heart academy and to me personally heart is a good school yes but i feel as if somethings in the school need to change..this school did turn out to be the opposite of what i thought. the school does need some donations and we did have gym but the gym teacher was borrowing other teachers things just to construct class because the school couldn't afford to buy the proper things needed. the teachers were ill prepared at times because the schools wouldnt tell them anything at times with the schedules , and sometimes things didnt make sense..for instance when we took our finals for our 1st semester the teachers were confused and the other staff memebers including the principal didnt know what they were doing.
I am currently a ninth grade student at HEART. When I applied to this school I was told it was a great school and its comes out this school is the total opposite. This school dosent really teach anything if you went to a good middle school. The school can hardly afford anything. I would not come to this school if I were you.
I am a former student of HEART Academy and I believe that it is a good school, but there could be some improvements for the school which include more parental involvement. I agree that there are not a lot of after school activities, but HEART is a all academic school and students can join sports teams at other school, so extracurricular activities is not an excuse for a child's education.
this school did not allow many activities. they also have some small and minor rules.that can prevent a child from pasting. they also run out of supplies. they did not always have the heat on. last bit not least they have small pest such as mices roaches and spiders and so much more
This school does not provide all the needs my child requires. This has been a dissapointment to my daughter and I. Im going to send her to CASS TECH, a far more better school in Detroit.
Heart Academy is a great school. As a student of 3 yrs. I have really come to enjoy the school. At first I thought that the school should have some extra curricular activities, but now I see how that can take the focus off of my education. I have come to love the staff, students and the parents
HEART Academy has consistently low scores on MEAP 3+ years. There are no sholarships available to the students. No extracurricular activities (gym, dance, music, art). The teachers are very helpful and understanding, but the school office (principal/secretary) needs a little less attitude and a lot more professionalism and tact.
This school is really amazing. The teachers are wonderful and nice, they teach us the exact things we need to know, and everyone here is wondeful. The only problem is that we need a lot of equipment and a lot of donations.
I feel that Heart Academy would be a very good if more parents would become involved. My daughter has been a student at Heart for 3 years. I think that some kind of Physical Education, dancing and other clubs would be very beneficial to Heart, then by adding this, you probably would have an increase in your enrollment. The school should have more of the community involvement.
The quality of the academic program at Heart is wonderful. The academic program prepares the students for college as well as the medical field. I do think that the school need more extracurricular activities for the students and more clubs for the students to join. I am pleased that Heart academy give the students with high honors a chance to join National Honor Society as well as Who's Who Among High School Students. Good Job Heart Academy!
As a former student of Heart Academy High School, I can honestly say that my experiences at Heart have impacted my life. No other high school offers the opportunities to work in a hospital setting. Attending Heart put me many steps ahead of others.
I think Heart Academy is a very good school. The principal is excellent. But the school needs stronger parental participation. I have met some very hardworking teachers, but there are a couple that need to go. I think the Board needs to do some tougher interviewing for teachers.
Unlike the other two reviewers, I would greatly disagree. Heart Academy is a very poor school. The level of education is far beneath what it claims to be. The teachers are wonderful, yes. And they do try to educate properly, but the environment is not at all accepting of it. There weren't any active clubs while I was a student. No foreign language club, no drama club, no quiz bowl team. There weren't any art or music appreciation classes. There were no sports. The school has consistently scored low on the Michigan Board of Education. The environment was not up to standards as far as cleanliness either. The school doesn't prepare its students for real life.
i think heart academy is a great school, it is for students are interested in the medical field. they go on field trips to hospitals, nursing homes, morgue, and anything that has to do with the medical field. its still a small school, but i think they are trying to boost their attendance. i think heart academy will do just fine.once they get everything in order.
