South River Elementary School

Great teachers and the school is beautiful. However, the principal does not let boys be boys. They cannot play tag, football, soccer, etc. My child loved it until the principal put the strict rules in place 5 years ago.

We moved our three children to this school in 2010. Our favorite part about it so far are the teachers. One, in particular, has been so proactive about wanting to understand our daughter's academic needs and help her to succeed. Our kids have fun at school, and there are many quality children to choose friendships. Our previous school had a website to check a child's progress, but this one does not. That's the only thing that I wish the school utilized.

The new school is beautiful but the discipline issues that are prevalent create a negative environment. Some conflict of interest with staff member's children attending and being allowed to bully classmates is unacceptable. As my children got older and were able to better express their experiences, i learned that staff behavior is very different when not in the presence of parents.

We are only rookies when it comes to teachers/schools/boards/PTC, ect. but moving to this school was an absolute plus for us. I have found the Principal/Teachers to be on top of everything...with great communication lines between them and us(parents). The current Principle is a no-nonsense great leader who is highly respected. At the same time she is fun and energetic with the kids as well as our family. The parents make an effort to be friendly and want to get to know you. With a second grader and a pre-schooler we are absolutely looking forward to our coming years at South River Elem.

My two girls love the teachers and the school itself. A very warm and friendly staff resides at this school whos passion is teaching the children !

South River is one of the best schools in the region. Supportive staff, fantastic administration, outstanding support and curriculum.
