Chose this school over my own district: I am a parent who is very concerned with the quality of education for my children. When it was time to decide on which school to send my oldest to, I did not hesitate to enroll her at Yacks. I have had many years of contact with the staff there and know that they are a dedicated, hard-working group of people who want every child in that school to succeed. My oldest is now in her 3rd year there and my youngest attends as well. Both are flourishing under the guidance of their teachers and the support staff in the building.
The PTC is awsome with getting great things for the students!!
I am not satisfied with this school. My child has learned more about how to defend himself from the other kids instead of learning how to add and subtract. This school is ran on favoritism. If they don't like you you will be labeled, they also pick all of the children for the extra cirricular activities done in school by how much they like you or how much your parents help at the school, not by your ability or academics. Its a very unfair school and I wouldn't recommend it to any family.
I have been very satisfied with Yacks elementary. My son is in kindergarten and i am amazed with how much he is learning so quickly. He is learning to read, write sentences, and recently his teacher sent home a blank number chart and asked us parents to work with the kids in writing numbers 1-100. Even though homework is sent home once a week, I have to work with my son every day. At the end of the year he is going to have 10 minutes to write 1-100. His teacher sends a newsletter home every week to let us know what is going on in the classroom. He also anwsers emails promtly if i have any questions or concerns.
I am not satisfied with this school. My 7 year old has not been challenged in acedemics, nor has she been motivated by any push of support to do any extracurricular activities. It seems that my child brings home homework only once a week if lucky, and that is not because she is finishing the rest at school. I am looking for a school that will keep her interested and challenge her in academics and social life.
