BEST Academy has its problems, but it has done an excellent job of getting the best out of my daughter. She's in the 1st Grade yet she reads at a 3rd to 4th Grade level and BEST is willing to give her work that challenges her every day. The staff has been nothing but supportive and pleasant. I hope that BEST Academy sticks around for a long time.

The think that BEST is doing a much better job this year with the academics as well as with thecommunication between parents and administration. The hireing of Ms. Collette in the 3rd grade classroom was a great decision. She is a outstanding hands on teacher that is fun to learn from but yet firm with her students. BEST would be wise to keep her at any cost. She is the best thing that BEST has done to improve the school this year.

I remember writing one of the Nov. 18,2009 reviews and at the time felt that way. Unfortunately, my oppinion and feelings toward the the shcool have done a 180. I will still contend that the communication between my childs teacher and I was priceless! Problem 1: The administrators are not on the same page with each other, often failing to support each other ( as I experienced first hand ). 2: Poor communication between parents and adminstrators. 3: Lack of parent support from the adminstration. Unless you are one of the "chosen few" you won't get a fair shake. I have many more points of intrest that I can list, but I think I've made my point. I like and commend Ms. Crippen for what she tries to accomplish as the lead adminstrator... just need to be more aware of her subordinates as well as the needs of the surrounding community'

The administration at Best is rude and nasty to the children as well as the parents. I will be placing my children in a different school.

No comment. This school has come a long way but still needs so much work.

The administration sets a very unsatisfactory and unsettling tone for the entire building. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

I really like what I see happening for children at BEST Academy. The adults embrace all students and go over and above to ensure that students learn.
Excellent staff. They also have great and talented students.

It's obvious that the staff members are posting these reviews because they're all created around the same date. I would send my child to a Detroit Public School any day over BEST Academy because even though DPS is in bad shape right now, there is accountability with DPS. At BEST Academy anything goes and one can only imagine how they made AYP. The administration only has one thing in mind here - money. The students are faceless and only viewed as a dollar sign. Curriculum, organization, and supplies are just a few of the things lacking here. I feel sorry for anyone who considers this a good school because they're obviously delusional. Great kids, terrible school.
No special ed services given to my child. Detroit public schools will give my child what they need and we will never go back to a chater school again.

In the past years B.E.S.T has changed and in my opnion for the W O R ST. The teachers and staff are far less caring and concerned with their children. I am sad to say that have 'favorites' and watch ou parents if you get on the bas side of the satff which isn't too hard to do. Academics are the least of this school concerns.

For the past 6 years my kids have attended BEST Academy. The teachers and the rest of the staff are very helpful and understanding. I wish we had schools like this when I was growing up. I might have taken school more seriously.

My son has attended Best academy for the past two years and both his teachers has sent home news letters each week to let parents know what to expect for the week and by them doing that i was better prepared to work with my child for that week because i knew what to work on.

I am a proud parent of two students here at B.E.S.T an 8th grader and 5th grader, I have a child who also graduated in June of 2009 i really feel that the teachers and administrators are really positive role models for our young children here at B.E.S.T, they really have the children's best interest in heart, the teachers are very good in sharing information about our students, my children are greeted every morning outside before they enter the building.the assist principle stands outside himself to make sure our young people are safe while entering the building. the school has a zero tolorance of any negative behavior, and I love the way they contact the parents if any student violates any of the rules, i am very glad that my daughters are students here at B.E.S.T.

This is our second year here at best and the one thing that i like most is the way they go about problem solving. I know whatever issues i've brought to the attention of the admin. ,they have addressed them and done thier best to make my child and myself secure in the fact they want us here. I also like that my childs teacher won't hesitate to communicate with me about what she might either see as a problem or an accomplishment. My child and I both are glad and proud to be here!!!!

I really appreciate how the faculty works so hard to ensure that the students get to and from school safely on the school buses. This is so important for parents who don't have transportation.

Congratulations to BEST Academy!! Meeting AYP two years in a row is definitely something to celebrate. Despite the misconceptions that the media may depict students are learning and improving at state level. Improvement starts first in the mirror and if you are not part of the solution you are a part of the problem. Teamwork is a school wide culture and only when everyone does their part can a school reach ultimate success.
This school needs a lot of improvements. I would not recommend this school to anyone with school age children.
