This is an excellent school which offers a Broadcasting program and a Career and Technical Program. I recommend it to students and surrounding community members! By the way, our high school hours are 8:15-3:17pm. Have a great day!!!

I cannot believe this school has 3 stars. It should have absolutely 0 stars! When your students are not graduating until they are 20, there is a problem. Your student will not get a fair shake at this school if your family has not been around here for generations. There has been so many students fail because, the school has failed them miserably. The new principle is trying to turn some things around, but it is too late for so very many students, who leave there frustrated with trying to get an education, thinking they are not good enough. No one should get that from a school. Very sad.

Because Hillman is a village and has limited resources the academics and sports may not compare to larger towns, but they work well with what they have at their disposal. The PTA does an excellent job and the School Board is interested and invested in the community

I removed my 15 yr old son from this school because he was obviously disliked by the teachers and was constantly sent to detention or suspended. After removing him the focus fell upon my 17 yr old daughter who was an academically talented pupil. She was suspended when another student accused her of elbowing her ( no evidence or proof, just another girls word). I have since removed her, now my 13 yr old is paying the price for having the same name. Accusations and detentions with no just cause. If you're not from this town, don't bring your children here. If you are, take your children where they can receive a quality education.

I loved going to hillman schools. The school is small but yet gives big education! I love the small amount of kids in each class room allowing you to get more attention with school work!

The acamemics offered here are minimal. If your child expects to get into any class that will expand their education or talents, don't expect much here. The teaching staff is not very involved in students abilities, and do not go beyond in caring for their students. Sports offerd here are very limited and favoritism if common among coaches. If you were not born and raised here, don't expect fairness.

As a former student at Hillman High School, I feel as thought it is a wonderful school to put your children in. It is a very friendly environment and everyone knows you there by name, even the janitors. The academics are up to notch, and there are mant clubs and organizations available. The band and choir go to state almost every year and receive ones or twos. Hillman has a very talented academic staff as well. The school counselor is also a wonderful and very helpful man. There is also a free career counselor who goes to the school once a week for grades 7-12 to help plan for students futures. As a senior there are numerous schloarship available to you. It is a very safe environment to raise your kids in.

The Quality of the programs at this school is minimal. The band and choir is excellent I will agree with the reviews on that note. 1 foriegn language is offered and that is all. If you are moving to this school and your child is avid in sports do not expect them to get into any sports activities. The coaches in this school system stick with their favorites and do not often accept new students despite their avid skills. I played on the volleyball, basketball and baseball teams for this school and i have seen countless highly talented individuals turned down.

The staff and teachers of this small school system are superb. The band and choir win awards almost every year. Art and photography classes are also available as are sports: boys and girls basketball, volleyball, football, gold, and baseball. The HS counselor is extraordinary in his skill and work with students. Dual enrollment with Alpena Community College is encouraged for students, and tuition is paid by the school district. Community support is very good and many grants made to the school's graduates by the local community.
