Fabulous school. It is academically challenging even for the Kindergartners. The school teaches not just academics but prepares our children for life by educating them in personal responsibility and community service. The teachers are well educated, very caring and take the time to ensure their students understand the material being studied. The sense of family and community are wonderful. Its an all around great school.
I went through this school from K-8 and I loved it. The teachers got fed up with me as most teachers do, but sometimes they handled things a bit wrong. They treat PDA's (Public Display of Affection) as if someone was trying to harm someone else. I believe that it shouldn't be a no tolerance policy because they're teens/pre teens, their hormones are raging and they can't help it. I can say that the Spanish department helped me out tremendously, seeing as I'll be a junior taking Spanish 4, the highest Spanish available to high schoolers. I was also put in isolation, which had never been done at that school before. In my opinion it actually helped, but it was a bit steep for them to do it. I missed a lot of social interaction with kids my age, but it help me wise up a bit seeing that I was pretty much always surrounded by adults. So overall, I think HA is not a bad school :)
I am a new parent at this school with children in both elementary and middle schools. I couldn't be more pleased. I love how this school is able to effectively educate students on all ends of the scale, children that need more help get it; children that are excelling are able to move up to different grades and/or do higher level assignments. Our teachers know where my childrens' strengths and weaknesses are and address those in class. The teachers go far above and beyond the teachers we've had in other schools, and all seem to truly enjoy teaching. The school has high expectations to students, parents, and teachers, and that makes the difference. Finally, I love the middle school. The teachers are incredible and the students are very welcoming. They've adapted my child's classes in math to accomodate his needs and he's excelling because of it!
The teachers are very involved and go the extra mile to help their students get a well rounded education.
This school was amazing. I was here from 4th-8th grade, my brother from 2-8th and now my other siblings k-5 and 6. My parents have no intentions of pulling them out. The teachers are amazing with the one on one aspect is great. Whether your behind your class or ahead you're accommodated to ensure that you are getting the most out of your education. I agree with the statement that everyone gets along too. The teachers and director are all so approachable and have no problem helping with anything. The school is amazing. If there would have been a high school I would have been there, instead I chose to homeschool over going to a local Public High School. Overall, the education is the most important and that is really what stands out here.
Great school!!!!! Teachers are awesome. My son graduated from Kindergarden last year and already knows more spanish than me. Love this school. We are moving and having a hard time finding a school that compares to Holly Academy. Oh, and my son loves it too. He cried when he had to go on summer vacation.
I am amazed with some of the reviews I have read on this site. My son had attended a few elementary schools prior to Holly Academy and they were well below this school, both academically and regarding parent involvement. My son's friends who attend other schools, both in and out of Holly, are almost a year behind academically in some subjects, and at least a half year in others. The PTO is very strong, but I don't agree that it's the only way to get involved. Their are endless opportunities for parent volunteers in the classrooms and I have not seen a building where parents are more visible. If you have any doubts then just visit the building on a few occasions and you will be more then welcome, and pleasantly suprised.
Great small school atmosphere.
I love my school. We have a great time here with the teachers, and our friends. The teachers are so relatable. I don't agree at all that the school is just for K/5th grade students. I have been going here ever since I was in Kindergarten and am now going into 8th grade. I would like to comment on the absolutley fantastic job Mr. Brown, Mr. Craven, and Mr. Stieve do. They are wonderful teachers. Thank you HA for everything you have done for me!
I expected so much more from this school. They have the means to do it, they just don't follow through. Very disorganized and chaotic. The local elementary school has more control over the students. Here the teachers are busy socializing not teaching. No guidance for children only hardline discipline in kindergarten. It's a shame, I expected a higher caliber school after moving out of city life and instead got a rural school posing as an upper scale school. Before enrolling here ask around, visit other schools.....the difference really puts HA in a bad light.
