My child started at this school in the 5th grade. My child has always been an A-B student, very involved in school functions, just a great kid. From the second week of school, through the last week, I didn't have a clue who this child was anymore. Grades went from A's to E's, the outgoing, fun attitude was gone, and my child has been miserable for the last year. First thing is the fact that the principal is only there part time due to being the principal for 2 schools. They have a non-bullying policy, but it is never followed. My child is bigger for a 5th grader, not much more than others in the class. My child cries everyday because of the bullying at school. Nothing is ever done about it, even though they say they will take care of it. The teacher, I am NOT impressed with at all. While I get the progress reports, and report cards, if I send a note, or call, I never get a reply. Can't use the online program to check grades, missing assignments, and such because the teacher never set it up all year. Please, if you are considering this school for your child, keep looking. I have pulled my child out of this district, and moved! I would never recommend this school!
Its a small school with a big spirit. The involve the children with many hands on activities. The staff is very kind and caring.
I school of choice my son to this school and I have been very happy with the education he is receiving. I feel the teachers are very accessible and stay in contact when there is a problem. I hope that it remains true as he enters 5th grade next year.
My child seems to be doing okay in this school, but not as well as he did in MacNaughton elementary. I dont like the fact that I feel that I dont have as much access to the teachers here. I have recieved home updates and mid mark reports, but when I have sent notes to school and have left phone messages, they are never returned. I dont know if its just this particular teacher or what, but my child is not doing as well this year as he normally does. My childs 4th grade teacher in this same school was great about returning notes and calls and was very helpful in keeping updated about my child. I was then therefore able to help work on areas where my child was not doing as well. I am also aware the special education services are greatly lacking in Edgerton.
