The school system here is, in my opinion, very corrupt. They do not give one priority about student education. All they like to do is cram kids into a building that has been in an existence since Ironwood's more progressive days. The kids here are very, very undisciplined. Some kids are alright and cool, but the majority just aren't all up to the bat. So, if you are considering going to schools in the Gogebic Range, keep this in mind.

I agree with the comment on for the handfull of teachers who care, 2 handfuls don't. Agenda to use the restroom? Lose it and pay $5 for your child to be able to use the restroom. I think the health department should be called. Ask students to live the "Wright Way" when the teachers and administration don't. Have a dress code for students when teachers don't follow it. Have a problem with a teacher or administrator and go to the school board to have the 'good ol boys club' agree with teachers and blame the kids. Have 22 of 31 children in a science class fail and blame it on the kids. They teach for the MEAP, period.

I greatly advise referring to a school's website to gain general technical information regarding any school. This school's 2010 annual education report, found on their website, can be accessed through this link: http://www.ironwood.k12.mi.us/index_files/fullannualedreportLLW.pdf

Much like prisons, this school has severe attendance and disciplinary problems because it favors punishment over rehabilitation. Countless Sat. school sessions will not solve anything. The community is killing its children.

I would never allow my children to attend this school - I would never want to put them through what I went through. Constant ridicule went on (more then Necessary) when I attended - Teachers heard but did nothing. I did not pass the 7th grade at this school, getting F's in every class - And in the end they moved me on the 8th grade without addressing the problem. There are no art classes in this school, which was awful. Over all terrible place - I cringe when I hear the name.

There are teachers there who really care about the kids.

I would say that if you put in the effort as a student, you will be rewarded handsomely. Although the funding is not great, I got a above average education and the teachers are more often then not very helpful. I always make it a point to go back and see old teachers when I am in town. I got a good enough education to go to the University of Michigan's school of Aerospace Engineering. For those that haven't had a good experience, I would say that is because you have no motivation or don't ask for help.

I think we continue to provide a good education with limited resources. Our test scores tend to support this comment. Many of us honestly due the best we can. Student attendance could be better and that is parent driven.

All 4 of my children have attended this school. For the handful of teachers that are good teachers, there are two handfuls that are not. The school board--meeting with them is a joke. I have tried several times with no results.

This is the worst school I have ever been to. The teachers insult and put down the students all the time. The school would rather spend its money on new equipment for its sports teams, rather then update the damaged books they have been useing since the early '80s. This school is not about education, it is about small town sport competition. I have moved around alot in my life, and have been enrolled in many different schools, this one by far is the worst!
