do not recommend, very poor quality of education, bias and unprofessional. Experience with 6 children through this school. Please talk to other parents with older children (3rd grade and above) before considering enrollment.
The staff does an excellent job with the resources they are given. This school has a vast amount of special education students and it is important to remember that when comparing schools within the district. My children love their teachers. Parent involvement is at an all time high this year. Great job Northeast.
I think their may be a lot of single parents who have a lot to do, and don't help the kids study and learn as they should. Also some of the kids seem to have some real behaviour problems that may be fallout from broken home or parental busy-ness. Some don't seem to have had a lot of positive home training. On the teacher side, there are a lot of good teachers, but some of them seem to have a lot of chaos and disorganization in their rooms. It can be hard for a sub to manage the kids because of this.
Northeast really cares about it's students. The Principal wants to have a safe learning environment for everyone. There are many quality programs available to the students. The PTO works very hard to ensure extra activities for the school. It is so nice to see children grow from Pre-School through the Sixth grade!
This is my daughter third year at Northeast and I must say that her current teacher has been a big disappointment to me. The school overall is improving but there is a big need for better parent/teacher communication. Teachers often complain about the lack of parent participation but never stop to think that they could be apart of the problem due to poor communication.
Northeast is really a good school but some of the teachers show favortism with the students. This is my sons third year at this school and he really loves it but I have noticed that some teachers treat some students differently. Over all I would not change schools.
We moved to Michigan 2 years ago. My daughter attended kindergarten at Northeast last year. She was so bored she was in trouble most of the time. I also had problems with the disipline she was given and the lack of communication from the staff. Not to mention she was put on the wrong bus 2 times and counted absent once when she was actually there. If her experience in 1st grade does not improve she will be attending a different school.
I thought there were problems with Derry as principal but Perloff has done the impossible! She makes Derry look like a quality manager of students and staff. This school could do more for all kids if the management would get its house in order with discipline and support the adults who care to teach these children more than than the 3 R's. Life is full of expectations and behavior should be set at high standards. Staff will work with those willing to work with them, just ask parents who care.
My child has attended Northeast for 2 years. Pre-school was wonderful, she learned so much. However, Kindergarten has been a disappointment for us. It is probably alright for most kids but I feel that there is lack of communication between school and home. There was many changes in the school this year, and I feel that the school was not really prepared for the year. I regret to say that my child says she is bored at school, and will not return to Northeast next year due to academic, saftey, and communication problems.
Too many changes in Management.
