HONOR ROLL

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Paragon Charter Academy is the best school in this area for students to learn morals and academics mixed with parent teaching also. It is a great foundation school for working towards future goals such as college and just all over well rounded students who strive for more. If anyone asks I always refer them to this school. The teachers are amazing and really care and focus on the students. The classes are smaller than the general public schools and with the uniforms their is limited problems as every one looks the same. I could not ask for a better staff or a better school!! They are always improving their school!

I know why this school has such great school scores, they weed out the special education kids, it's ridiculous how they won't help these poor kids. Parents get frustrated , take their kids out and its an end to Paragons problem. Public schools can't do that, so of course test scores will be different. Paragon is a joke.

I put my kids here to get an above average education without the price tag. The curriculum is great but the teachers are hit and miss, and don't get me started on the dress code. I understand the reasoning behind the uniforms and even support it, but the focus on shoes, socks, hair clips, etc is a waste of time and energy. I've had my kids here for 5 years, I'm pulling them for next year. That's how ridiculous it's gotten. Kids need to learn to conform while being individuals..that's not the lesson here. Way to teach kids that focusing on their appearance is what matters most,. Also the extra curricular activities for girls are a joke, the volleyball program was the biggest. Games would be canceled, practices changed and no notes..no phone calls, until my kid is sitting there for a half hour because a game was cancelled so it was changed to a practice with a shorter time Thank you Paragon for squashing my children's love of art and sense of individuality. I remember being relieved and excited f.or my kids to attend, now I can't wait to be done with it, and that's not even factoring in the pick up situation every.single.day.

The teachers are great here but if your kid has a disability they don't have enough resources to help them. They don't have a special ed department, they don't bus and be ready to fork out money every month for one thing or another!

This school does a tremendous job with children. The teachers are all young, committed, carring, energetic, and moral. They will come in early or stay late to make sure that your child is getting the help that they need. They are totally committed to helping children learn things like integrity, responsibility, respect, and positivitity. This school is better than a private school. Go Paragon!

Teachers (I've experienced) are great, but I think that the administration should start following the morals that they teach the students.

I liked the school overall. My child had good teachers but there were some disappointments. (1) The class ratio in Kindergarten is 25:1 (2) My child is above average and I am not convinced she was properly challenged -- while the teacher is great the ratio of students to teacher has to be overwhelming. (3) The school instituted a new grading system but rather than adequately explaining it (even after an evening of explanation) backed down as soon as parents challenged it. It makes the administration look spineless. (4) I addressed my concerns with the principal about safety issues and parental notification in the event of emergency and was poo pooed. (5) I addressed my concerns with the principal about discontinuing foreign language for 1-4th graders. There are fundraisers for everything there and without even We are considering a new school for the fall with foreign language for 1st graders.

I really love this school. My son started learning spanish in first grade, and math is excellent. All of my friends kids attend other schools such as michigan center and others. When I hear how they are doing and how little teacher involvement ther is, I'm and thankful we have such a wonderful school such as Paragon. The moral focus is great and the students strive to do their best at all times. As far as after school activites go, they could do more. But there is always boy and girl scouts. I would not even consider sending my kids anywhere else. The only thing I worry about is where to send them to high school at. I would prefer if they had their own after school day care, but I'm sure more improvements will come in time.

My son has been a student here since Kindergarten, and is know in the 5th grade. I reall y love the education that my son is getting here at Paragon, and how they challenge him everyday. I only wish my son could continue at Paragon throw High School. I am a parent who was always voluteered up until my son was in the 4th grade when I had to go to work full to help my family out. I really miss no being involved as much as I once was, but know I have to help out behind the scenes so to speak. Paragon keep up the good work!

I switched my child to Paragon when she was starting third grade because I wanted the best possible emotional and educational environment for her: to enjoy life in the present; and to prepare her for college and beyond. She came with baggage, making it an uphill climb. She has generally met this challenge with hard work and persistance, working at home every summer to make up for lost ground. Suffering from low self esteem, she has had some difficult times. One time, she gave up completely on herself. She begged to be home schooled, and I worked with her from home while seeking advice from the school counselor, her teacher and the principal. Paragon was as flexible as possible (given outside constraints) and fairly supportive. They encouraged us to return her to face her issues with some counseling support. We took their advice, and she is now thriving in sixth grade.

Paragon is an excellent school. I have two children enrolled at Paragon and this is our third year attending this school. The teachers are top notch and go the extra mile to challenge each individual child. The emphasis on moral focus is a plus and the amount of parent involvement on a daily basis is great!

Paragon is an ok school. They dont really have any after school activities like jps. They have no advanced courses and no A.P. classes. They should have high school credits too. Paragon needs to be upgraded and improved. I have moved my child to jps schools and they have so many encore classes and A.P. classes and it is really nice there. Paragon should be improved.

Paragon is a wonderful school, if you have a child who fits into there style of teaching -- which is very rigid. There is alot of emphasis put on mastering a certain skill, moving to the next level etc. -- I had a kindergartner who would come home crying -- the 'team' that is the class puts a lot of pressure on small children. I also agree with another review that special ed services are difficult to obtain at best -- they dont seem to want to deal with learning disabilities instead they tend to retain these students, only putting them farther behind. I have not heard of kids being retained at any other local district the way they are here. I guess it helps to keep there test scores high?!

My kids have attended this school for the past four years. The teachers and administration need to be more involved and special education needs to be easier to attain. Bullying is a huge problem here.

I have 2 children at Paragon. I talk with the teachers daily of my childrens progress, and they are always very helpful. I know all the staff, and feel free to talk to any. They have homework daily with I think is a good idea. Moral Focus is great, children are taught to respect others and work as a team. They are improving there extracurricular activities, and sports aren't so great, but k-8 is that so important?

Paragon has some good qualities, but has to upgrade in it's extracurricular actiities. That is where they struggle. the teachers need to become more involved into the students. There sports is not all that impressive. They should upgrade in more sports. And encourage the students to have good behavior, instead of just sending them to the office, and suspending them all the time. If you ask me Paragon needs to UPGRADE!

We are just finishing up our second year at Paragon Charter Academy. The administration is very hands on. All the students know who the principal and vice principal are. They are fair, kind, consistent and approachable. The teachers work hard at having as much one on one time with each child as possible. I know where each of my children are at academically and feel free to ask at any time what I can do to help at home with any problem that my child may be having. Paragon is a safe and loving environment where children are free to express themselves. The students are taught leadership skills and display them with excellence. We are always complimented on how well our students behave at outings and parent involvement is a definite presence.

My kids have been at Paragon for 6 years. We love it. It's safe; and has a warm, welcoming, 'family' atmosphere. The teachers work well together as grade level teams and they really care about our girls. We think the moral focus/character education foundation is great. On top of that our kids are challenged academically. Since it's a K-8 school, our oldest has moved on to high school - she made this transition easily. She was well prepared to function academically. We're so glad we found Paragon.

I am a parent of a two elementary students attending Paragon and have been very happy with my experience. Not only do they have a strong academic program, but they offer a Moral Focus program which encourages students to respect one another, thus providing a disciplined atmosphere for learning to take place. The students wear uniforms - a big plus in my book, each has a planner which lists what is expected of them daily, and this year they have added Spanish classes for grades 1-8. Teachers are great at communication (with their own phone extension voice mail and email addresses), the principal has an open door policy, and parents are highly encouraged to be involved. There is no fee to attend. Check out their website at www.heritageacademies.com
