Woodward School for Technology and Research has been a wonderful environment for my first grader! He attended kindergarten and preschool here as well and I have had nothing but great interaction with his teachers and the staff. He is advanced in reading and his teachers have taken the time to ensure he is reading at his level and going beyond this to the next level. He loves it here and I can't imagine a better elementary school for my son to start out his education!

The individual attention paid to each student has greatly helped our son who is ADHD blossom and learn to love school. Even in times of mis-behavior all teachers are willing to work with the students and parents to resolve the problem, without labeling any child as 'trouble'. Highly recommend this school!

I have 2 sons that are very different. One is ADHD to the extreme and the other is commpletely oposite. This school is highly reccomended, they have done a wonderful job in treating every student as the individuals that they are!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
